I think what I am addicted to is the rush.
The process.....
Learning - seeking - dealing - selling - buying
All in good FUN :D
Once it is obtained, I grow bored and move onto the next hunt. LOL :help:

For all ya'll who cheered me on and offered helpful hints about today's jam. It was AWESOME!! We didn't add any new songs today from what we've been working on, but we nailed three of the list solid and are getting a start on a couple more from the list.

That said - we did start keeping track of songs that we both really like and would like to learn to play. We're not "adding them to the list" yet to keep it from getting overwhelming. But - it was a great time. We're doing it again a week after Easter. And I think it's gonna go somewhere.

Parting comments today from the drummer - "I just love the sound of that orange-y bass (the amber Lakland). I love it enough that I might learn to play bass myself someday."

Yep, I think we've all been there. I've come full circle and now play several brands. Be aware that when this phase passes, you may have some seller remorse.

The problem is, your satisfied for the moment with what you have.. and for a few months you don't look back, you tell all your bandmates that 'this is the one'.. then a few weeks later, your slumming on talkbass classified or ebay cause your bored and then uhhh ohhhh.. something catches your eye/ear and you start to look up details, research and generally obsess over the bass and then bam you've either traded your 'lifelong partner' or added yet another bass to the collection.. 15 years of doing this, I've considered therapy lol

it's a good thing this kinda of habitual behaviour doesn't extend to collecting/trading wives and girlfriends lol :p

You've got it figured out bro. Some HAVE done this with women too, they're those old single guys you see at the bars and strip clubs. My wife reminds me regularly how and why OUR grass is the greenest.... no need to do anything but occasionally glance ;-D lol.

Back on topic.... my "LIFER" Lakland 5ers aren't getting played much at all since my cover band requires only 4 strings. But, I've learned NOT to move my favorites just because they're not currently getting action. I did that w/ some killer 4 string Lakies when my previous originals band was still kicking, where I had to play 5ers. Let a rare 35" Darkstarred 4-76 (bart preamp), and the '51 P prototype go :-(..... now, I'd definitely be gigging those badboys.

I hear ya.
I for sure am not married to one brand.
I love several of my basses from "other brands".
So I am not JUST a Lakland-a-holic:D
I am a bassflipper - a -holic :D hahaha!!

Indeed sellers remorse.
Been though THAT many times this past year. :(
