'Notice the $450 dink next to the output jack. I ended up getting a super deal on this new bass on the 'bay.

I apologize if this had been covered in-depth in previous posts but I have a question about the pickups in the Glaub I recently purchased. It is my understanding that Lakland switched from Fralin’s to Lakland pickups in the Glaub around 2008..? The serial number on mine is BG 393, which according to their serial number list would put me with a build date of 2008. Is there a way to know for sure, short of pulling the pickup, as to which it is? I admit that I am not the best at identifying pickup brands, unless it’s fairly obvious.

You're right about the date--I think it was late '07/ early '08. You can tell the difference by looking at the pickup wires, I believe, but I always forget the details. Someone smarter than me will surely chime in.

Nice bass. I just bought the same one last week, except for mine has black pickup covers and black knobs. I've never seen one with cream colored pickup covers.

Yeah, I spray-painted the pup covers pearl white and replaced the stock knobs with pearl-capped chrome barrel knobs. The pup covers turned out a tad darker than the body. I am going to contact Lakland and see if they can spray the same body paint on a couple of pup covers for a better match. I'm sure they COULD do that....

Thanks. I think one of the coils is lined up like a jazz--maybe the back in 60's position? It's something like that.

I thought that was right. The PU was moved towards the bridge to align the back coil in 60's position. Compromising the MM mode. 70's position would only compromise more.

That sounds right to me. So if the blend is in the middle and the switch is towards the bridge it's "60's jazz bass".

yup...

That is the antithesis to every bass I own or have owned, somehow I like it though. Congrats!

Sorry dude...but I know...."its not getting as much love" as the others....killer bass!

someone grab it!!! it has options galore!

I didn't say that, I said, it would be redundant given what's coming back in ;) But yes, someone should grab it :D

Pretty cute man. I can see you as a dad watching her pawing all over your gear, "must resist yelling at her, powers of cuteness are over taking me." :D

I may or may not hover as she plays. You know, just because...

Little kids learn early on that coffee tables are their enemies.

I kid, J, I kid.:D

J2....she is so adorable! how time flies huh?
how is "this stage" of being a father?

I love my P5 as well....my LOG P and BGPJ5 are getting a lot of play lately.

she seems to like CAR....maybe you should get her one of these:

(the one on the right...Samick Corsair...actually not a bad little bass)

I remember you showing that little baby one off a looong time ago. I'm going to want one in that shade once she gets a little bit older. Or maybe right now: She'll be two in August.

Holy crap, Doude. She'll be two in August.

HEY NOW!!!! some of us like our "furniture basses"...:spit: :atoz:

Amen, brothah!

Just put this on the block, link is in my sig.

Whew. You sure about that?

I said I was kidding! I like some of those myself.

[ eyes you suspiciously again ]

Number Please?
FIRST Lakland.

Pretty epic, man. Love the painted pup covers, though I generally don't like anything other than black for plastic covers.
