Lakland Owners Group #63

The luthier I like in my area happens to work at one of the two(?) lakland dealers in mn. Brought my frankenfender in for some work and played a handful of skylines, a 44-01 and a few AJs, and man! All I have are US now but the world of skylines is still quite amazing. It's always pleasant to be blown away by the "low end" models of the greatest brand out there ;)

I agree with Lee on this one. That Skyline 44-64 Custom was probably the best import bass I have ever played. A few little hardware and cosmetic upgrades and you have yourself a top level bass.

Stopped at my local GC on the way home just to noodle around. Guess which bass was the best feeling and sounding one in the room?

It's from 2003-04 from what I can tell. Different sound from my '99 4-94... A little more midrange 'thunk' and a more muted top end but it definitely sounded good. The neck felt a little thicker front to back than mine too. But all in all it was sweet as hell.

If I had an extra $2200 I'd get it and keep some flats on it :D
