There is something magical about the Genz/Bergantino/Lakland combination. Nothing compares or even comes close.

While all three make great gear, I don't think any of those brands have a dominant signature sound, with the possible exception of Genz./party pooper

This is very true. The Genz heads are a huge part of the equation. I've played Bergs with heads from Ampeg, GK, Mark bass, Aguilar and SWR and I have to say that the Genz and Mark bass were the best for me with the Bergs. The components used in the Bergs add to the rigs end product. When it comes to the bass, the pups and pre, if any, really the are the defining factor in the overall perception to the player. But, if the feel of the bass is off and not meeting the aesthetic desires of the player, the entire setup will never be right. You will constantly be chasing the Dragon.

There are so many factors that many people never find the sound they are looking for.

I dig the Geezer, BUT those tuner knobs seem to REALLY stick out of the head.
It would be cool if they could match the stripe pattern of the scratch plate onto the bridge, as well.

Lakland likes the long-stem tuning machines on their US basses. I haven't decided whether or not I like them relative to the shorter length found on Skylines. I feel like the hardware on this bass should be black, and I agree with others that the board should have been ebony...

I'm all for the long stem. I think short stem tuners make a bass look cheap, nowadays...

I'll bet that was fantastic. How did you split your signal?

Radial splitter pedal. Tuner > wah > Keeley compressor > radial splitter > then one line to the rest of my pedals, the other straight to my clean rig.
