New to TB, and new to Lakland, but now a super proud owner of this USA Decade.

Fantastic! Always wanted to try one, not any accessible in these parts - there was a used Skyline active version that I was eying up in the country, but it sold quickly. The solid body tone wood and chisonics is such a fascinating combo! enjoy!
This one is passive, but is very dynamic and high output like active, while maintaining a vintage passive grind, punch and vibe.

I love the lakland Pre/pickups too. I know I've seen some negative options of it but for me it works very well.
I've always loved the look of the natural finish Lakland's. Since the grain on this particular piece of ash is so nice there's really no need to cover it with a
cap. It has a beauty all by its self. As far as the electronics go, having owned both I think it kinda depends on what you started out with. There are certainly more available options on the Lakland system if you need them. Just my take.

I've always chased "warm, deep, and smooth" and thats what I think the Lakland electronics give me.
I don't think it's an either or situation both my Lakland 55-94 are Bartolini systems simply because they're 25 years old. I once owned a 55-02. lined fretless with the LH System. When they switched over to the LH Pickups and Preamp we were offered the option to exchange our Barts for their LH's. Based on playing an upgraded 55-94 and comparing the two I chose to stay with Bartolini. It's all good, to me they sound quite similar. Just my take of course.
I have one of each. My '98 has Barts and my '06 has the LH3 system and I find the Barts a little warmer and "aggressive" (comparatively speaking as I wouldn't call them aggressive normally) and the LH3 seems to work better for comping a P or Jazz sound.
That Birds Eye neck on your 55-94 is exquisite. The contrast between the neck and the red burst ( Tequila Sunrise) both is striking. You have a "one of a kind" there!!!
