Lakland Owners Group #69

...That said, fraud can and does occur, but banks (and more often nowadays their core system service providers) are well equipped to stop it before you notice it, or in the event that it does actually go through required to give the account holder/consumer the benefit of the doubt and reverse the charge WHILE they investigate.

FWIW if any of you have sent or received a PayPal from me you'll note that my email is Digitallinger... Digital Dillinger... John Dillinger... "I break into banks for a living"... Well, now I just manage the guys that do that are better at it than I ever was :-)

NON LAKLAND TRAFFIC INCOMING:

Just so all the European players know:
gear4music has got an INSANE deal on Eden effects pedals going at the moment - the glowplug tube driver is €48, reduced from €159, the I90 chorus is €29,50 , reduced from €149, and the CaliforniWah is €41, reduced from €117.

I don't work for them, I have no idea why they're so cheap, I just came across this by accident while I was playing around with building my dream pedalboard. A glowplug is in the post =D
Almost annoyingly, I already own the Boss chorus and Dynamic Wah, and gear4music don't sell the Eden flanger. Poosticks.

I checked the Eden website and the pedals are still listed - I thought maybe they were being discontinued, but not a peep about that anywhere.

Anyhoo, thought I'd come on here and share the good news.

Take care,

Just got my Lakland Skyline 44-64 today. I only did a quick tune to see what's up and I'm really pleased! Will do a good setup tomorrow or Friday and have fun with it. It's replacing a MIM Fender Player P that had Tone control issues. I could've got another Player P but this looked interesting, I liked it's looks, and I've read nothing bad here about Lakland.

Can I get membership number?

It’s a ‘00 from Florida. Spent about 2 hours cleaning her up... all cosmetic, structurally great...and that birdseye...

Amusingly, has a lapse in the quilt on the top. No big deal, just never seen that before...

A quick comparison with everything flat between this bass and my ‘12 55-94 with newer Barts (with old strings)- even with brand new strings (DR Long Necks) on this bass, the newer Barts are clearer and more modern sounding. Not that this bass sounds bad, mind you. But it is more ‘vinatge-y”. Will definitely get a lot of playing time though...

Beautiful bass! Love that look of black and tort!

Thanks. I too love the Tort on Black look, the pictures don't do it justice. I'll take some better pictures when I do a setup and post them. I'm new to the Lakland fold, but I'm sure many here have seen the 44-64 in that color combination long before me.

I absolutely love that era of Lakland 55-94s and their Bartolini guts. The 98 and 00 (maybe it was an '01 hmmm) I've had, had crazy Birdseye figuring, like yours. You pair those old pickups with a modern hybrid amp (I used GB Shuttle 6s) and it's bliss. I have not tried them with all tube amps yet though.

CONGRATS!!! She's a beauty! And that quilt top anomaly just makes her unique.

ok, just checked the lakland website and the dimensions are identical:
DJ skyline is 1.5" at the nut, 2.5" at final fret, fingerboard radius 10"
44-64 custom is also 1.5" at the nut, 2.5" at final fret, fingerboard radius 10".

Funny you felt a difference - maybe perception? (a Jazz bass should feel thinner than a Precision, so that's what you felt?)

Sexual Chocolate is disassembled, ready for me to ship the body to Carl Pedigo. She has a noise issue that I've put off getting fixed for years now, since I had switched to 4s. I was going through some rough life changes too, at the time, and lost desire to deal with many things. There's some weird ground issue that Lakland said they'd fix for nothing, since I had just got her back from having a bad pickup replaced. Heard the noise straight outta the box. Odd thing is, she is dead silent with a wireless system. Hums like a hive of bees with a cable plugged in. AND, I replaced the jack the other day too, hoping that was the issue.

Wow, that looks SHARP!

This was a first run natural/maple DJ 4 that my buddy Aaron had. Back then they were known to feel extra skinny, and his did for sure! I've never been a P bass player, and have very limited experience with 1.75" nut widths, as I absolutely can't play them. I spent too many years on jazz necks to adjust.

I'm not much for blue basses, @Fred312b, but that is a looker! Nice score! The birdseye is crazy!

I, myself, had a horrible nightmare last night that someone stole both of mine! I had them cased in a double gig bag after a gig and I couldn't find them when it came time to load out. I found the empty case but the basses were gone! I woke up to a combination of sadness and anger. I'd never felt such loss over a bass but it was palpable!

Fortunately, they're still here and I've calmed myself (the coffee helped) but I think I may have bonded with them. :)

Chock full’o BEM! A classic from the golden era! Congrats!
