Lakland Owners Group #69

The 44-94 doesn’t do a Scheff, IME & IMO. But then, there’s plenty who think the 94’s P, J, and MM sounds aren’t close enough. Like I said in an earlier post though, I never used my 94s to mimic the big 3. I fell in love with the old Bart-loaded 94’s own sound.

Agreed- the 94's have their own palette. I feel the neck single comes close to jazz territory but the bass really doesn't to P, MM or Scheff at least with Barts. Nordy's maybe. I wish my fretless 44-94 was a Scheff to go with my fretted but it still kills and used USA Lakland fretless are difficult to find as it is.

This. Sounds. Amazing.

That's really all I have to say about that. I'll try it with the fretless later today.

Does anybody know why Lakland uses 50K blend pots? They said that is the stock pot value, which is really odd since 250K or 500K are normally used. I'm installing Delano pickups and don't want to use something suboptimal either for the LH-3 OR the Delanos.

I know I'm bumping an old post... but its something I could do with an answer for...
Has anyone got a wiring diagram for a Bartolini preamp era 55-94?

My blend control is playing up.
The pot in it I think is stock, and is a 50k MN taper
The Bart NTBT wiring diagram bart uses have a 250k A/C taper
If you just asked me to change it without looking it up I would have gone for a 250k MN ...

The Bart should be 250k. Are there no markings on the old pot?

Scored my second Lakland a few weeks ago. Traded a nearly pristine Yamaha TRB 1005 for a gigged and neglected Skyline 55-01. Yeah, I know the other guy did well in the trade, but since getting my DJ-5, I really wanted a 55-xx, and this one already had Nordstrand big splits and Audere preamp. I suspected neck issues and was correct. Well the neck is sorted out, and with about three hours of elbow grease, I got the finish looking good. Had some scratches I couldn't quite get out around the pickups, so I ordered a pickguard from Quickguards and it came in today.

Very nice! I believe that is a bass I once owned (I added those pickups and preamp to a black/Rosewood 55-01 once, and sold it here). I don’t remember it being that scratched up though. You did a great job getting it polished, and the pick guard looks great!
