I respectfully disagree. I think a crazy person is a crazy person. Some harm themselves and others and some only harm themselves. Either way, they are brain damaged to the point of no return.
And even a "damaged" person is capable of cowardice.

No way was he acting alone in this. Yeah, he got away with it (if death is "getting away with it"), but his co-evil doers aren't going to....We can label him whatever we like..doesn't matter. He's dead and he got away with it.

The shooter got away with nothing, and I'll tell you why I think that:
I won't go into "spiritual" reasons like "karma" and the hereafter, etc. that's too esoteric. (Although there may be some validity in all that-who knows for sure?)
But IMO-
The only thing we leave behind is our legacy. How we treated others while here, and what effect our lives had on others, good and bad.
Quite obviously, the legacy of this twisted individual is set in stone- An evil, sick, and tormented person who would not seek help or try and fix what was troubling him, but instead chose to go out taking his own life, but not before destroying the lives of 58 others and their families and loved ones; and also will undoubtedly leave many hundreds who survived with terrible wounds, physical and mental, that will last for the rest of their lives.
Maybe thaat's how he wanted it- he was certainly that skewed, but nonetheless. He will always be synonymous with one of the worst deeds ever done in the history of man.
That- IMO- is not getting away with it, and I'm not just playing semantics.
One more thing: He seemed to be a man of some wealth, there may be holes in that too, but- I hope that every nickle
and dime he ever accumulated, along with the proceeds from the sale of everything he owns be turned over to a fund for the victims. How about that??
It appears his goal was to murder a lot of people. Then take his own life.
Mission accomplished.
If that was his intention, then he succeeded. No one knows what his mind-set was, and we probably never will.
Still, like I said: He "got away" with nothing.

B-line, I have to be on the side of your opinion (which should frighten youThe shooter got away with nothing, and I'll tell you why I think that:

Good question. Hopefully more will be revealed by the investigation. How do you prevent someone like this person that had not so much as a parking ticket, no one was watching or suspecting him of anything up until he rained terror down on innocent people.
this will sound very far fetched and way out in left field but I wonder if there is the possibility he was not in control of his own mind, by which I mean an outside source. Or was he just a complete nut job ?
Yes he did. He can never be held accountable and receive any kind of punishment by anyone on this planet. Ever.
So he "got away" with the crime technically.
My wife and I finally went to Alcatraz a couple of years ago. There was a guy signing books in the store. He had done time at Alcatraz and had written book about it.Can't say that I agree with that.
As we post, he's being held accountable, so guilty as charged.
His punishment is that he will always be remembered and reviled as a callous and insane individual who chose willingly and engineered a way to inflict massive harm and damage on almost 600 innocents, as well as the entire city of Las Vegas, and probably the rest of the World as well.
His suicide saved hundreds of thousands of dollars in trial and incarceration costs, as well as whatever it costs to administer a lethal injection, so at least he did the taxpayers a service by opting out .

I wonder if it was important to him to always be right?
Yup, that could be.Maybe he was frustrated by what he considered to be half-baked statements, and it drove him off the deep-end?
Yup, that could be.
