A very nice guy too!
I really hope he's doing ok.
I can't even begin to imagine what that was like, to go through.

I'm dam near fifty and had never been to Vegas until a little over a year ago. Since then me and my wife have been back twice for a total of three week long trips. We've come to really love that place. I'm not entirely sure what exactly happened but I'm choosing to focus on the acts of courage and heroism of the ordinary people in the face of such horror. There's literally no way on earth this BS is going to keep me away from Las Vegas. In fact I'm headed down there this Saturday for the weekend. The trip was already planned but I'm going to show my support.
I agree with all of the above... except maybe now it's too dangerous for the Raiders to move. Maybe stay in safe 'ol Oakland. Ok. Kidding over. Just trying to lighten the mood.
Maybe a couple blindside tackles by Mack is what's needed in this crazy world we live in.
Another coward who chose to lay in the shadows and punish innocent people
for the problems he created in his life. People like that don't deserve to have their
name said out loud ever again.
I feel for the families of the victims and pray that at some point this country will find a wayWell, the shooter took the coward's way out, killing himself, so he wouldn't have to face the consequences of what he'd done, or have to deal with LV SWAT officers who would have put an end to his lunacy straight-away.
Better he would have been captured; made to answer for his crime- And just maybe handed over to the Raiders for a little "street justice" by their defensive line!
Not meant to be flippant, but sometimes it trumps grief, and eases the shock.
to prevent such extreme situations from happening.
Is a mentally deranged person a coward? Not defending him in any way of course, but I don't think being a coward played into it. I think being a lunatic did.
It's terrible to see such violent acts of lunacy and hatred like this. I'll be praying for all the victims and their families...There are investigations and steps that can be taken to prevent terrorist attacks; unfortunately, not much can be done
in identifying and preventing maniacal deadly outbursts from the sort of individual who apparently was respondible for this murder, the worst in US History. So sad.
Maybe internet postings or work history foreshadowed this; time will tell, but its all too late.
A dangerous society we live in. But at the same time, We (Mankind) are STRONG. And the decent, loving, and forthright side of Mankind will always prevail, despite such horrific acts by sad, angry, and lost individuals and groups.
No doubt the toll will rise, It's almost too much to absorb when its in one's backyard.

Does not the act of suicide before facing lethal challenge denote cowardice? At least to some extent?
Maybe, I guess. But you can probably say that about suicide in general. And I don't think that people who commit suicide are thinking on those terms even though you may be.
No, I think he was a coward. Most likely, he planned on killing himself after he unleashed his inner demons by shooting innocent people like fish in a barrel. That in itself denotes cowardice- In one respect, because he acts out his frustrations, his madness, his insanity, his lunacy, his sickness- whatever it was- on innocents, meaning to me that he is afraid to confront himself and whatever drove him to do this. I was going to say "snap", but he didn't. This was planned and engineered, from buying the guns, probably doing a "dry run" at LIB fest earlier, renting the overlooking room, and modifying his weapons.
Yes- He was insane; I even grant that an advanced Geneticist could be able to slice his brain and find a correlation with his father's genes, or that a shrink could trace back his life, etc.
But in the end- only a coward deals with a disease, organic or mental, by making others pay for his pain.
Let me say then He was a Cowardly Lunatic.
Maybe, I guess. But you can probably say that about suicide in general. And I don't think that people who commit suicide are thinking on those terms even though you may be.
..But there is a HUGE difference between the tragedy of those who may be suicidal, and take their lives out of despair or hopelessness, and one who would FIRST take the lives of many many innocent others who DID NOT wish to die, along with them and their sorry and sad desire to end their lives....
Again, not defending him. But if you are mentally ill to that extent how can you call him a coward when he is so delusional he is willing to kill and be killed for some bizarre reason?
Anyway, the sad thing is that people have died and are wounded and are forever changed because a lunatic with an arsenal could not handle his demons.
I respectfully disagree. I think a crazy person is a crazy person. Some harm themselves and others and some only harm themselves. Either way, they are brain damaged to the point of no return.
