Lets Buy A Wish Part II

Have you heard the sample of the wish that I think xush posted a while ago? I can tell you, EMG's in just ANY bass doesn't sound like that? Wish basses sound very very distinct. I've heard 2 of them, they didn't both sound exactly the same, but they sure didn't sound like anything I've ever heard.

4. It would be very convenient for me if Paypal could be used to keep the money straight. Payments could be tracked electronically without cost to the sender. I could also pay for the product easily. If this won't work, I understand but I would like to keep the accounting work to a minimum. By the way - "All deposits are insured by coffee-sipper himself"
5. No contribution should be over $10. We've got enough guys to put things together at that price. This will do 2 things: minimize ones financial exposure.
6. I really-really like the idea of putting our signatures on it. I would think that whoever winds up with this instrument would find that pretty cool.
Anyway let's keep the planning going...

1. Do not donate more than $10 - for that matter, don't donate less than $10. This is all for record keeping purposes.
2. The first 25 donations will establish the fund for this purchase. We are assuming that the bass is around $200 (for the stude) with the extra being used for cost overrun and shipping. If it is less than this, I'll refund the latest contributors money. If it is more, I'll post a request for whatever else we need.
3. You can pay to the Paypal account just by signing up. It doesn't cost anything. If you pay by Paypal, be sure to include your real name, current address, email, and your TB handle so that I can keep track of who's given what. PM me for my email address (Paypal ID)
4. I'll accept check's if that's the only thing you can get to me. Out-of-state checks will require a period to clear. For my bank that is usually about 5 days. Be sure to include your return address if it isn't already on your check. PM me for my address.
5. Wishnevsky said that he will have a Stude by next week I am not sure we will have the funds together by then and I think that may be too soon - but we will see.
6. When we receive the bass, I'll post very detailed pics for everyone to see. I'll also begin the reviews with our locals here in Raleigh. In the meantime we should plan the road trip for the bass.
How about an interview with Wish? Come up with some decent questions and I will ask him when I pick up the bass at his workshop. Id like to also get a picture of him with the bass before it begins its adventure.

How is this better planned than the last one?
Maybe you should limit participation to people with positive feedback.
I don't want to participate because I'm not a fretless guy, but this is fun to watch, so good luck!

I am sure that most comments will be about the same (poor construction, big ass neck, ugly headstock, rough fingerboard, glue visible, etc.) I owned one for a while and saw all of that. I would like to read some gig reports on the test Wish. Who among the participating would be willing to play it for an entire set or two? I am not talking about whipping it out for a laugh on one song, but really trying to pull some music out of the thing. Would you post feedback from the rest of the band/audience comments if available? How about some pics of you at the gig playing it? Thanks in advance.

Xush just made that bass sound so completely diefferent, and everyone else and the other Wish I heard was because of what you said? Naw, man.. they just sound different. I work with GIS so once I get everyones address I can geocode the locations and project that as a layer on a US map. Then we can decide the path it shall take. Since we will keep track of who gets the bass we can also calculate the miles it travels.
Would it be possible to log playing time with it as well?

We are underway! Several of you have already contributed. We have contributors from the north east, south east, south west and the midwest.
We still need to discuss how to create an incentive to send the bass to the next person on the list. Karma?
I have one other suggestion in regards to the non truss rod neck. If each person could gauge the neck relief and post the findings with their review we can get an idea of the viability of such a feature. - If this bass is traveling x miles and the relief changed x amount. - How do you gauge relief on a fretless? We should have a consistent way to measure the relief so a comparison could accurately be made.
