Lets Buy A Wish Part II

I think its a big mistake to ask him to build a bass specifically for this.

What good is knowing what his best is if thats not what most buyers are going to get?

I say you go for an e-bay model as is so that you get your hands on what Im guessing is as standard as it comes; what the average buyer would get.

You are right. I would suggest buying one off ebay. If I had a bass being reviewed, I would spend a little extra time on it.

You guys are right exactly right to think that and I completely agree. We are trying to get a bass that has been built before this project was initiated. I think the eBay bass would be ideal and that is what we have decide to try and get - as long as we can gather enough project contributors by the end of the auction. I am going to call him today or tomorrow.

My feeling is this (hypothetical) if we were to initiate the Let's buy a Geddy Lee Fender Jazz bass and purchase a single bass, the probability of our one sample being a bum is low but still exists. Making our sample pool based on one sample reduces the meaning of the trial. Maybe more applicable of an example is exit polling – if we asked one person the direction of their voting preference and based our results on just that one sample the end results would be considerably skewed and since exit polling has been shown to sway peoples actions in voting (or choosing) we need to be responsible in our sample design.

We might have to market the project a little to fill up the remaining 3 spots out of the 20 total project spots that we allotted.

Right now in Paypal we have 100. The eBay peanut just sold with "Buy it Now". I'll have to wait and see what are options are. To be unbiased the bass really needs to be off the shelf and not built specifically for us.

BTW, perhaps Freekbass and Embellisher and I could all 3 get together for a review. I dont play any gigs, so perhaps I could just come check it out at one of their places, or something like that so we arent shipping it around Dallas 3 times.

Something we can work out once its purchased and we are close to in line for it.

Good point. Once we have everyone together we will appoint a region rep. - based solely on who contributed first in each region - Southeast, Northeast (incl. Canada), Midwest, Northwest and Southwest (not in any order). We will then draw straws (or what??) to see where the bass goes after the Southeast. I'll post the region reps. once I get a chance.

We have one more spot open.

Thanks. I got your contribution. Can you send me your mailing address with your email and tb handle?
