Kevin,

A couple of questions about your setup:
  • It looks like you have the back of the cab against the rock wall. How close is it and what distance(s) from rear surfaces do you try to keep it from for the rear facing speaker to be effective?
  • What surfaces - such as this rock wall with large crevasses - have more of a detrimental effect on the sound/3D effect than others?
I'll have more but it's late and my brain is beginning to go to sleep. I need to let my body follow. :roflmao:
Thanks,

Dave

Surface does matter, and around 1-3 feet is most effective. In this case, the uneven rock wall was pretty absorbent, so it really didn’t much matter how close...and I needed max space in front of cab.

The cab is p-l-e-n-t-y loud, hearing only the 3 forward woofers. I always use wireless, and the rear woofer seems to help a little with off-axis movement, too. I took this pic, before packing up that day...

Man I had a deal on an alpha bass head fall thru about a year ago. How’s it sound? I’ve heard good things
I like it very much. It replaced an Ampeg V4BH which sounded great but broke up too early with my 5-string. The Alpha can present a loud and clean low B and has very good eq options. Six 6L6:s /160W is quite perfect in a tube amp IMO, loud enough and not too heavy. Only 2 and 4 Ohms output load though, something to concider if you're in the market for one.

What are the ratings at 4 & 8 ohm on the RAD 1000?

the specs on the website just say "1000 Watts RMS, 1800 Watts Peak "

In terms of real world performance, it is easily as loud as the 1000w 1000ASP amp module I was previously using, and right on par with the new ICE1200 module.

Pascals spec sheet says 1000W at 4 and 2x500w at 8. It will also operate at 2 ohms.

The cabs I knew but your power amp and DI, not so much. Looks like a killer rig. I suppose you control all your tone on your bass?

The rig is voiced really close to what I like already, but I handle small changes in tone and EQ with my pedalboard, which has an Empress ParaEQ, DSM OmniCabSim, and a Darkglass VMT dlx. More than enough control. I rarely use the EQ switches on the Sonic Farm, and my bass's onboard EQ is typically flat with a little bass boost.
