…and that picture is proof that mixing speaker sizes does in fact work quite well, as long as you allow for release of the excessive heat build up via a flame vent line on your guitar or bass.

Actually the dead spots were deliberately designed in by Leo Fender to give some hope to all the lead guitarists he was selling instruments to that they'd have at least one moment when they'd be noticed above the brilliance and attractiveness of the bass player.
