Line 6 HX Effects

Totally doable.
  1. Press MENU and then FS1 (Signal Flow).
  2. Turn the Big Knob to select any block and then turn Knob 2 (Path) to move it to parallel Path B.
  3. Turn the Big Knob to select the Split block and then turn Knob 1 (Move Block) to move it all the way left.
  4. Touch FS3 (Split Y) to display its parameters. Turn Knob 1 (BalnceA) to "L100" and Knob 2 (BalnceB) to "R100." This routes the L/MONO input to Path A and the RIGHT input to Path B. Both signals will be merged at the Mixer block at the end.
BONUS #1: If you want the entirety of each path to be sent out separate outputs, select the Mixer block and set A Pan to "L100" and B Pan to "R100".

BONUS #2: Instead, if you want each path to be completely stereo, select the Mixer block, touch FS2, and turn Knob 2 (Path B Output) to "Send12." In this case, the Main L/R outputs are fed by Path A and the Send 1/2 outputs are fed by Path B, both in stereo. Yes, HX Effects could conceivably process two separate band members, each with their own input, stereo processing, and stereo outputs.

BONUS #3: If you want to quickly switch between two completely separate paths, select the Split block and change it to a Split > A/B. Assign the RoutTo parameter to a footswitch (or expression pedal if you want to blend between the two paths).

There's a reason we hide this kind of stuff in the Signal Flow menu.

Thank you!!!! This is one hell of an info post.

I guess this makes it official...

Two gigs past, due to a variety of circumstances, and the sudden desire to step outside my comfort zone, I played without a pedalboard. Still had a Keeley Bassist and fDeck HPF in my amps effects loop, but no other effects; first time ever.
I’m not swearing off effects, I just sought a new perspective, and I found one.
The gig went well, and we were all happy with the tone. I missed some stuff more than others, but there was also something really nice about my tone.
This experience gave me pause to go back to a blank slate, and build a chain fresh.
Emulating my experience with the Damnation Audio Bloop, I settled on a split path in my HX FX. The paths split at the start and mix back at the end. The A path has one block, an LPF at 1K. This path’s mix levels are controlled by an expression pedal in the mixer, -20 to 0. The B path has the other 8 blocks of effects, going out the mixer at unity.
Wit the parallel paths there is better support in the low end, and overall, the effects are not as obvious.

My last gig was with just the HX FX, and it worked really well. Got all the variation in style and tone I enjoy, while maintaining a more pungent low end.

Next gig will have the space for my board, newly compiled around my newly configured HX.

So I'm a noon to the HX. I've done some Googling, but still have a few questions.

1) When I had the M series pedals, I always left them on. Is there is a reason to use the switch instead of just powering the pedalboard on and off?
2) After a quick preview, it looked like there was factor preset based on a Moog Taurus. When I messed with it, I couldn't get any sounds. Does anyone know what the deal with this is?
3) Can I latch an effect, like an EHX Freeze?
4) Any suggestions on cheap expression pedals?

1. use the switch to avoid any weird power ups or downs
2. Not off hand
3. yep, put it in the effects loop and use a block for it
4. get a mission and don't play around, I used cheap expression pedals and ended up spending more than the one mission...it's worth the extra $

Good to see someone else still rocking the X2 wireless! I buy them up when I see them. Never had a single issue or dropout, ever. Love them!

Agreed, been using it for years to great success. I have three of them, kept finding good deals on backups. I also like a removable battery. Been using rechargeable 9 volts their whole life.
Just a days ago I broke an output jack on one, and found the replacement part at Digi-key. I ordered a few extra for backup. I just can’t buy a $2.95 part and pay $3.50 for shipping, so I got three.

So, I'll be laying down bass for a new recording soon, and I'll be doing this in my home "studio".

What I want to be able to do is to record two signals at once, one going through the HX and into my Ampeg PortaFlex PF-20T, and one going directly to the sound card without any effects at all. Could this be done with the HX? I want to be able to use my effected setup, with A and B paths etc, and still send a completely clean signal out. Could the FX SEND be used, perhaps?

Just make the very first block an FX Send, and take your clean signal from there. I do that exact thing purely for an always-on tuner pedal.

Hx effects finally arrived but did not had the chance to dig deeper. I decided to keep my keeley compressor pro and put it on one of the two loops, as the visual indicator for gain reduction helps me set the compression easier, but I could use some help setting up the chain using 4cm with my Markbass LittleMark 250 if anyone can. I still have not been able to sit down and make connections, and I won't, until the next few days, but I would like some basic guidance doing so. Specifically I would like to know if instrument or line level should be selected and if this can be selected independently for either of the 2 HX's loops, and if I can move keeley before or after the preamp.

Today, the HXFX was a life-saver for me. In my main band, we tune down two full steps, so my bass is tuned, low to high, G C F Bb Eb. Setting up my gear for rehearsal, I realized I had brought the wrong bass, in standard tuning . Fortunately, I was able to just dial in the HXFX pitch shifter in front of my chain, and proceed as if nothing happened. The tone was perhaps not quite what it used to be, but I got through rehearsal just fine!

Very interested in how well this worked.

Just joined a rock covers band, 35 songs to learn all standard tuning or drop D that I can cover on my 4 string no problem, apart from a QOTSA number that needs CFBbEb - is the pitch shifter viable for this? It doesn’t have to sound amazing, just good enough to get me through the song.
