Interested about the Bassman 212. Similar question as above: why 212 and not 210/410/610 etc?

At OP's list Hartke 410 XL were well selling and widely available cab at its time. Much better than Transporter series. GK had RBH series 410 (used by Flea and Duffy) that was good cab too.

Both are old cabs but used in big stages being iconic ones. They are also heavy cabs. My choise is Markbass 104HF, also one of the most popular in their offering and OP already listed that.

Lots of assumption and projection in your comment. I’m a bassist but definitely more into the Metal side of things, therefore any help on gathering valuable info (without any condescending comments if possible) is welcome.

Not sure where you got the “stuck on 10s” assumption, but I’m clearly open to anything - I’m wondering which brands have stronger 12s or 15s than 10s, which is not the same thing you stated.

I’m not even remotely promoting a product, to clarify. Hopefully the next comments will be more helpful

I was looking at Hartke XLs but wondering if the 4.5XL is a big upgrade compared to the 410XL you mentioned. Hydrive is a completely different character afaik but it may be worth it to get both and see how they differ from each other

We have people come on here asking for things to better sell that never touch instruments, just have an Amazon or other type of sales site that sells everything and they want to know how to make more money by including amps. That is all they want, sales. As well as Inventors that want to broaden their market to bass just because they think we may like what they have, though they have never been in the bass world. Your use of "Popular" and "Saleable" is exactly the words they use.

12's and 15's are very well voiced these days and can do the mids that 10's were known for. A lot of 2x12's perform as well or better than most 4x10's now a days.

I had 410XL and now have Hydrive but never tried 4.5XL. Hydrive 410 and 810 are closed design and have different character than ported 410XL. My Hydrive 810 will probably be gone because it just lacks certain mids too much. It goes lower than typical Ampeg but gets lost in the mix easier. Tweeter is high passed too high and have only 3 position switch (off, -6db, on) missing adjustability.

Concerning EBS - their Proline 410 is the quintessential EBS cab, IMO/IME. Although it’s almost like an FRFR kind of cab, so I’m not sure it’s relevant for modeling/IR, if that’s what you’re considering. Brilliant cab, though.

As for Fender, I don't think any are as good as their “Pro” models.

I'm familiar with the metal-grill versions, but I'm sure the most-recent models which weigh less, with the cloth grills are as good.

This is done first and foremost out of passion and obsession for tone - Throughout the years I have perfected my IR capturing method (mainly with guitar cabs) and now I want to do this with bass cabs, but to get the best cabs I need input from a broader range of players. Hope that clarifies my purpose

I think they call the higher-end ones "Bassman Pro". Not sure if there's just a Bassman line...

I have two the previous ones (4x10s) with the metal grills, not neo, but not crazy heavy.

Yea Proline seems to be the EBS sound, although I have the choice to get either 410 or 610 or 810. Option paralsysis!

I understand the commercial concern, although it’s more of a “curious to know what your fav cabs are”. In case in the future I’d have to promote an actual product more openly, I’d definitely do it through a commercial profile

Never tried the bigger ones, but I would expect the basic personalities to be fairly similar. I owned and gigged the 410 for years. Really great cab. I mostly sold it because I was looking to downsize a little.

Though I have had 2x10s, 4x10s and 1x15s of various designs and makers in the past, I prefer 12s and the only two cabs I now own are a 1x12 and a 2x12.

One of my favorite “classic” 12” cabs is the JBL loaded 2x12 Fender Bassman.
