I believe Don is swinging by later today with a 1212/6/1 with a unique look. It is being shipped to a TBer later today. We will take a picture and give it a brief 'performance test', and if there is time, I'll put up a clip on my YouTube channel.

These 1212/6/1's are really something, and work great with the 500 watt micro type heads many of us use due to the increased SPL and 4ohm impedance over the 15/6's. Of course, you pay for that with a larger size and heavier weight spec, but killer cabs!

Whew! OK, here is a GOOOOOOOD one! This is a 1212/6/1 with the 3012LF's, the 18Sound 6.5 mid driver (800hz), and my new favorite, the Eminence 1001 Titanium tweeter (4K).... Ralf Patterson custom crossover.

First, while the Selenium Don uses in many cabs is awesome in its own right, I (and others) thought that tweeter was a bit too aggressive and sizzly in the context of the warm, fat, smooth tone of these particular cabs with the mid driver. The Eminence is a bit lower db but also seems smoother and a bit more organic. I love it, Don loves it, Ralf loves it!

Red... RED!!!!! I love it. Again, the Puma500 ROCKS with this cab, and at 4ohms, it really rocks.

I am uploading a clip as we speak (I'll post a link in an hour or so, or you can just click on my link in my sig later today if you want to hear it with the Sadowsky), and you will hear the amazing low end... NO compression or drop-off all the way down to the open B. This cab is a touch under 70 pounds, and sounds like it should weigh 200!

Unless there's a huge coincidence, this one is going to me. I'll be using the Carvin B2000, with 1350W at 4 Ohms. I play a MIA Cirrus 5 bolt on, exclusively on the neck pickup.

I cannot wait to put this on stage. If it gets here in a hurry, I can use it next Saturday.

My work productivity just hit 0 for the rest of the day. Might as well crack open a beer and wait for that video to show up. :D

Edit: I can literally feel my heart race as I look at the pic. I've been waiting for this beast for a long time. Got my headphones on already and waiting for that video!

Edit2: Thanks so much for taking the time to test it out and make the video. I'm losing my mind. That low b sounds so killer.

Very, very similar (I loved that cab also!). The size and location of ports doesn't have much if any impact on the tone... just the absolute port volume and the tuning.

I will say that I personally prefer this slightly more organic tweeter versus the super duper one you have, but that's pure personal choice, not 'better or worse'.

I am pretty sure that anyone who orders up on of these 1212/6/1's will get one that sounds almost identical to the others if you spec it the same way.

I love these cabs, and have a single 112 version on order.

One thing I learned from seeing this red one is that my surf green one will also have the matching baffle board... killer looking to me!

Thanks for posting these clips Ken.

What I like about your descriptions is if the cab is not quite for you personally, you do a great job of accurately describing so others can make an informed decision.

Thanks! These mid driver loaded cabs are a bit 'smooth and polite' for my personal tone goals in general, but I really do like them for what they are (and look forward to my smaller one for my little jazz type gigs). I tell you what, these LF's just hammer down low!

I know because my JBL pro monitor speakers were kinda fartin' out down low. :cool:

:D I tell you what, Detroit is one heck of a place to be to hear bass. I posted up somewhere a while back that my wife and I went to have a cocktail a few weeks ago at a cool little jazz club right down the street from our house, and there is Ralph Armstrong just BURNING on DB with the house band.... and no one even really knew who we was. It was like walking into a beer joint and seeing the Allman Brothers or something.

Pretty cool city to be in (as long as you aren't trying to make a living playing:hmm:).

I know! I'm giddy like a schoolgirl!

I'm glad everyone likes the look. I flirted with the idea of silver sparkle tolex (it would look FABulous under the stage lights) but it might have been a little too like Liberace. All red will definitely catch your eye on a dark stage without looking like a My Little Pony brand speaker cabinet.

My first big outing with this cabinet will be my band's CD release and launch of our new name, website, merchandise in June. We're gonna sound big.
