Well, after a few months of changing plans and drivers, my LDS, 212HO/18Sound XD125 Tweeter/Horn cab is finally done ! I'll pick it up tomorrow ( better hurry over there, Ken, and try it out while you can ! ), and will post some pics. Looking forward to a one loud, cut through the mix cab solution, for my wedding/corporate band-on-steroids gig. Hope this is the one. :hyper: Only bummer is, I won't have it on the gig for a few weeks.

I just put down my deposit on a 15/6 and 2x10. The 2x10 is going to be run full range, and will be used for overdrive / chorus / pitch shift and other effects.

I've asked for a sealed 2x10 cabinet, and am looking for moderate low-end extension, tight bass and lower mids, and clear articulation in the upper mids. Sort of svt-like, though if more modern speakers provide somewhat higher highs and lower lows that's ok as long as the basic vibe is there.

Don suggested Eminence Beta's for this 2x10. However, I've seen some posts from other TB'ers who have not been happy with the sound of these. I'd be very grateful for input from folks here as to what I should use, and what's available - for example is it possible to buy replacement Ampeg SVT drivers? I did a web search and could not locate any, but that don't mean they're not out there. Should I be looking at JBL or EV, or something else? Many thanks in advance for your help.

What is the difference between the RP/LDS x-over and the GB modified x-over on an LDS 156 KLLF 6ND410 mid sans tweeter.

I'm about to order another 156

It sure is! My first 15/6 arrived last week, and it is a beauty! Don said I should be receiving the second matching cab early next week. Once I receive the second cab, I will post up with pics.

And kudos to Ken for testing my cab. THANK YOU!!

LOL! An appropriate question indeed!

Answer: three reasons.

#1: so I can keep one cab at the rehearsal location and keep the other one at home.

#2: so I can use both cabs together when playing an outdoor gig with no PA support for the bass.

#3: to quote Mae West..."too much of a good thing can be wonderful!"

Buy a VT bass pedal and skip the 2x10. Please trust me on this.

Just wanted to emphasize that my LDS 1515/66 sounded great with a B string, (peavey Cirrus 6), I took to rehearsal tonight, since an extended range song or two have crept into our song list. Played the 6 the rest of the night and tried to do the Johnny B Gayden and Otiel Burbridge w/Allmans kind of judicious use of the B. Shook the studio while being present not muddy. Streamliner 900 amp. Don's nEarful works for me!:bassist:

Hey guys,

Im thinkin about a 12/6/1 using the 3012lf, faital mid, and tweeter from LDS. Does anyone have this specific combination? Do you know what the crossover points are?

Ive only found JxBass and Deb's 12/6 with the 3012lf and Faital mid, so far I havent found anyone who did this with a tweeter.

If you're talking about getting it directly from Don, he's pretty good at matching your tone goals and playing style to the various speaker options and configurations.

A very generous offer on Deb's part to help. I'd be happy to discuss as well but I don't think I can offer much more than Deb or Don.

I see. All good reasons.

#1- is moot for me, since we rehearse in my basement (nearest neighbour is 200 yds away, and she's a cow....literally).

#2- I get it. For that I'd simply go PA

#3- reminds me of the Grateful Dead lyric: "It takes dynamite to get me up, too much of everything is just enough":D

I had the 12/6 with 3012LF and Faital mid. I certainly didn't miss the tweeter. If I remember correctly, Don said it might be of use if you did a lot of slapping, not my thing.

Ok, so I play in a cover band and use my programmable bass driver to shape my tone. We do play a few slap songs, and I do like the little sizze my past cabs with tweeters have given. But I dont need the full on sizzle.

My MB210 combo I keep the tweeter on, and its just the right level for me.

My Ampeg BA115HPT I used to keep the tweeter attenuator at like 75%, and it gave me just the amount of sparkle and pop I needed.

For those with the faital mid driver, do you think i'll get the amount of sparkle and sizzle and pop im used to with your standard 2 way cabs with a tweeter?
