As a former Michigander, I can relate to the stagnation he's been experiencing. The Michigan economy (hence the Michigan real estate market, Michigan job market, etc.) has been a black hole for so many years now. I can imagine how relieved he must feel to have an opportunity for a fresh start...

+1 We were very lucky to sell our home quickly in Grosse Pointe Farms (about a mile from Don's house), although at a brutal loss.
I talked to Don last week. He has an offer on his house, and is now just sweating the final inspections, appraisal, etc. He is moving one way or the other at this point, and is in the process of the final pack-up of the house and his workshop.
My guess is, he will be down for about 3 weeks, and then back at it, since he has been setting up his new workshop in Seattle for a while now.
And yes, he is VERY happy to finally be getting this done. If I hear anything final, I will post up.
Got to meet Don last night. Had a nice visit with him and his wife on a break... He's working on the new shop. Can't imagine it will be too long before he's building again. Speak of that, I have my new 386. Wow, he really can build a cab huh. The tolex and grill finish are just first rate. Just looks great. Still working on getting a new head to run with it. Review coming and some pics sooner...
Finally got to use my 2x15 on a gig! Sounded fantastic, easy to move, responds well to eq, lots of volume on tap- with a 50 watt tube amp... LOVE IT!
Got this rig from Don a few months ago, have used it at several rehearsals and a couple of gigs. Awesome! Working with Don was a great experience, he contributed great ideas and was willing to build the crazy setup that I envisioned.
3015LF with 18sound mid, greenboy crossover (defeatable)
3012HO with 6" mid, two crossovers (switchable, and defeatable)
Dolly with 5" dual-locking casters
One 5-space, and one 3-space rack with front and back covers
This stuff all locks together with latches similar to rack hardware. Fit and finish are excellent - Don rocks! Components can be put together in various ways, in the pictures you see the full stack with 3 space rack, and also the 15" combo with 3 space rack. I got the 5 space so that I could use my separate pre / power amp rig if I wanted. Nothing weighs more than about 50lbs, so much easier to hump into the truck compared with my 90lb Eden 4x10.
FWIW, I'm happy that I got the 12" cabinet to go on top of the 15"; based on reading TB feedback I thought that I might not use the 12" but really like having the two cabs together. The 15 by itself just doesn't cut as much as I'd like, even with the mid turned up. When using both, I roll off the mid driver in the 15" cabinet completely. The cabs are built such that I could invert the upper cabinet and have the 6" drivers aligned (line array), but I haven't tried that yet. Getting plenty of definition with just one 6" driver.

Hey guys. I talked to Don briefly last week, and he is out of Detroit and on the way to Seattle. So, he said he will be up and running in the new shop very shortly, as he has been setting the shop up in various trips to Seattle over the last few months.
Don's a wizard at building custom cabinets. I have a custom LDS 2x8 Three way with B&C Neo Drivers. He put the two attenuators (L Pads) on the side of the cabinet so you don't have to go fishing around in the dark on a stage to reset the levels for the mid range and tweeter. It's got the custom detachable cart option, a little surface mount handle on the bottom for a lifter, and road spray so thick that it doesn't need a soft cover even when it rains. It will do 450 watts at 4 ohms and sounds great as a doubling amp for DB and EB. I'll post a pic when I get back from visiting my mom, in middletown USA (Muncie, Indiana.) on Friday.

Cool; maybe I'll still get my cabs for Christmas
I'm hoping for the same. I ordered a 2x6 cabinet to fit under my mini mark combo as an extension back in August. I managed to contact Don a month ago and he told me about the move, so it's good to hear that other people are getting orders filled.
Tell me more. I was considering having Don make something like this for my Minimark.
I wasn't crazy about adding a NY 604 just to get the additional 100 watts out of the combo; Don is making a cab to fit underneath with the same dimensions and using neo speakers. No horn or mid range as a I am already using flats and the VLE to roll off highs. Vertical stacking and lightweight. Should work well for what I'm going for, (blues/classic rock).
I too, wasn't thrilled about the 604 cabinet; it is a great speaker but I was hoping for a 602, instead, so what you are having made is perfect. Do you know what drivers Don is using and the impedance of the cabinet (it should be 8Ω.

My guess it the same B&C drivers in the MM now, which would be ideal if he designs it to match the existing MM cabinet in dimensions, etc.

He arrived in Seattle a few days ago, and is spending the rest of this week putting the finishing touches on his new shop. He will be back at work filling current orders starting next week.
He has not taken any new orders in a while given that the move made it hard for him to estimate build times. However, he will be 'back to normal' by next week, and will start taking orders again starting next week.

I got a Shuttlemax 9.2 (wow, nice head!) that will drive the cab. I've tested a bit and the two channels seem to be just the thing for doubling. Unfortunately, it looks like I may have a driver problem in the 386. It makes volume, but there's a bit of distortion. Not sure from what. I spoke to Don this week and we're going to hook up soon and see what's happening. Don did a great job packing this (I used to design packaging) but the shipper may have knocked it a bit too hard and got something. We'll see...

Unfortunately, I ran out of time waiting. Having read most of the thread, I know 16 weeks in waiting for a cab to start is not that out of the ordinary, but after some idle time, gigs are starting to come in regularly and I need a different setup. I may just breakdown and buy the NY 604 since it is the same price as my quote from Don.
I tried calling and sent an email three days ago with no response. I managed to contact him in October, but through this whole process, not a word from him, which was/is making me skittish. (By comparision, I've been waiting 17 months now on a Torzal bass. The difference there is that the builder is very good about keeping me apprised of my order status and updates.)
