Making an incredibly hard desicion

But make sure you're all prize winning studs before you go digging into to either of the candidates' looks. The prettiest of chicks or dudes can't save the other guys if the rest of youse are gnarly. If that's the case, rock the ugly but with great music.
Ive seen it happen. Band full of ugly dudes with a hot female singer, had 'em all hooked at the casino gig. The band was all pretty good aside from one of their guitarists, who happened to be the band leader. I stood watching as some guy turns to me and starts going on about the things he'd do to that "girl up there singing". I smiled and said "thats my wife". The guy apologized and bought me a beer.
Big +1 and I'm surprised that more posters haven't weighed in on the all important stage presence this gal brings to the stage with her.
Before seeing the videos I wondered if I'd even have an opinion, but I would never hire such a poor singer as that guy is, not to mention complete lack of charisma, which the gal has in spades! On top of that she looks good, has a unique stage presence and as you said, showed up ready to go!
After reading why the guy would be a good choice I immediately wondered the same thing; if he wasn't more of a salesman for his product, which is himself.Is he a vocalist or a manager? Seems like he'll wind up runnin' the band.
Seems like she'll be part of the band.Based on her youtube videos, looks like she's already got a handle on some marketing skills.
Btw, who'll sing harmony with her?
Any tapes of your band with the previous vocalist available?

Simple...do you want a singer or a screamer? I guess it sort of depends on your music. My 2 cents: I'd go with the singer for sure. Not sure why you think a female singer is "less marketable"? No offense, but that sounds kinda goofy. A bad or so-so singer sure won't do much for your marketability! The singer is what makes or breaks a band, IMO.

Abso-freaking-lutly. One of them is a singer, the other a poser. Go with the musician.
I have heard a lot of musicians say a lot of things about their experience and contacts. I have played with plenty of musicians with degrees. At the end of the day...the talent, the drive and the professionalism won out. Saw the two vids and i gotta tell you...this is a no brainer me unless she takes you in a completely different direction then the band is willing to go. Good luck!

The girl looks good, and sing pop songs, not that much impressive but easy to market
The guy ... well ... scremo-emo-punk-metal-wannabe is really annoying ... it is like ... not enough be trully be a metal singer ...
So the choice should go with the style of music you are looking for.

I gotta say, take the girl. For both talent and looks. i don't think either one from her is going to hurt you.

How is the guy's singing voice? I really like the idea of multiple vocalists (Like Alexisonfire, Lacuna Coil, or Crossfade).
After watching the videos, I am kind of surprised that she wants to join your band, as it is quite different from what she has been doing. Maybe this is what she has wanted all along, or wants to reach out in a new direction?
YES, it is a no-brainer - hire the girl, quickly, IF you AND she are sure that the material is suitable long-term.

First things first: the lady is a singer, the gentleman is not.
Second: how many times have I heard that same rubbish: "I have contacts, I'll take you to the next level"?
Third: anybody who says male singers are more marketable than female singers is daft.
Fourth: Most band's success comes from really good vocals.
Fifth: most people I have met through the years who blew smoke like you male candidate are really just looking for a "back-up" band until they hit it "big"
To me, your band sounds great. I am not sure what direction you are heading in, but the girl has the pipes, presence, and poise to front a successful band. IMO, adding the lady will change your band (as would adding any new member) but if you are thinking of making a run at playing original music, having a nice looking chick who can actually sing up front will push you to the "next level".
If your band is not going to use her, I suggest you consider starting a side project with her and play in two bands.
Also, since others brought it up, I honestly can't see Mr Ego and Ms Real Singer fitting in the same band. Not for long anyway.

+1 . . . from the provided info, this seems the appropriate choice. If the gender and look are as important as vocal ability then it may be a difficult choice, I'd ignore the connections unless they can demonstrate them (talk is cheap LOL).
From your description she has better potential musically and has an attitude you'd likely benefit greatly from. Depending on presentation and stage presence she could turn out to set you apart - you'd probably sound better and look unique is what I'm trying to hint at.
EDIT: Had a listen - she's got a pretty amazing voice, that plus the mindset is pretty awesome - that and she happens to look great, and very natural with her body language and voice.
As an older person who played in bands with people this past year ranging from age 24 to 84, I have to say that age is not the first thing I think of when I think of my fellow musicians. I think about them as people who hopefully are easy to get along with, well prepared, good work ethic, and have good musicianship.
So, it sounds like the chick singer has all of these good qualities but there are reservations.
My advice is to cut her loose. If all of you are not 100% now, it is probably going to be less later. She will sense your lack of enthusiasm and her time with the band may be short-lived. Give her the opportunity to go play with a band who really likes the fact that she has a great voice, looks great, has a good work ethic, is not stressed about the fact that she is a little older, and is enthusiastic about her being in a band that really wants her. Really, if I were in her position, and read these posts, I would have reservations about wanting to be in the band.

i think you have been given an opportunity here and you are trying to talk yourself out of it which you will learn to regret in the future.....the guys voice, dime a dozen screamer you can easily replace if SHE doesnt work out...
