Hi you all,

I just joined the Mesa gang. After playing for more than 20 years, I just got my first Mesa.
I sold my Ampeg V4BH to get a Fathom from fellow tber 'jetofuj' on recommendation of Tom Bowlus.

After a first short twiddling session I am very pleased with this amp.
I am sure it will pass the band/live mix test.

It will drive 2-3 Aguilar GS112s.

Phew! The pressure was certainly on, and I am glad that you are pleased with this swap! :hyper:

"buster"

i'd love to try one of those someday.
I've had 3 400(+) and never could get them to say clean enough for me to use all their power.

does the buster do "clean and loud?" cause if so, that's betteer, for me.

i'm also curious if the buster has more power than a walkabout, used similarly; cause i loves me some walkabout, but really wish it had a leeeeetle more grunt sometimes.

ideally, Mesa would put the walkabout front end with the M9 power section.

As always, send me a PM requesting a number.

i've always wanted to try a buster.
i really, really wnted to like the 400(+) and tried them 3 times before giving up....all that headroom, not enough clean power, for me and my needs.

if the Buster can make full use of it's power while staying clean enuff for me, I'd still like to try one.

on the other hand, the M6 does that really well for that; and, additionally, in case anyone at Mesa is reading this:

Build me an M9 with the Walkabout front end already;)
That would be the best of all worlds:
Tubey goodness with Input gain cranked and Master dialed back.
Clean Powah withe the Input lower and the Master cranked.

It truly would be, for me, and my needs
One Head to Rule Them All.

+ whatever the biggest number you can comprehend :D

Hey Chef...

When I first got my Rick, I had a rig with an Avalon U5 as the front-end.

Every bass I had sounded good through that rig; actually GREAT through that rig! But the Rick just was missing something. Where other basses "sparkled", the Rick came across as "sterile".

So I decided to start doing a little "tone research", and after a few hits and misses... settled on a massive Mesa rig (400+ & PH212x2) that simply ROCKED! Talk of the town and all that! :bassist:

One Achilles tendon injury later however, I downsized to my current Walkabout rig... which simply ROCKS! Still the talk of the town! :smug:

Conclusion? IMHO, Ricks gotta have that tube tone, and the WA just oozes it!

I hate to make your life complicated but a Buster might be exactly what you want, based on that description
