Mesa/Boogie Official Club Thread

I just realized I never posted to the MB club. Here it is. Been playing Mesa since 1991...bought the 1st 400 and both cabs back then, and recently added the 2nd 400 head. I just love my amp! Someday soon I'm going to replace with new tolex, I'm thinking cream or tan colored.

I've got a couple of questions for the Mesa crowd. I'm thinking of purchasing the Vintage Powerhouse 2X10 cabinet with the intention of adding the 1X15 in the near future.

I have an Ampeg B200R right now and would like to know if the head of that amp would sound good through the 2X10 and (eventually together with) the 1X15. The reason I'm considering these cabinets is because I will eventually buy a bigger amp. Something along the lines of Ampeg, Mesa, Orange or possibly even MarkBASS. Although I would still keep the B200R for home and recording.

Would these cabinets sound good with most of these amps, or should I be looking towards the Bergantino for a great all around cab.

Any suggestions would be welcomed.

I'm in! I just got an amazing deal on a used Big Block 750, and took it.

Basically a flawless specimen (bought 2006) for about half the price they go when new... too good to pass, even though it still wrecked my savings a bit. :p

Pics coming ASAP.

Hey guys how are ya? First post woohoo
Anyway I'm in a bit of trouble with decisions amp-wise so I thought I’d ask for help here :)
I'm currently armed with a M-Pulse 360, A walkabout Scout (12inch) as well as a Powerhouse 4x10 (At 8 ohms)

I'm getting a great tone n all but the volume and bottom end isn’t suiting me for home use and in the live giging environment. I’m looking at selling the gear and replacing it with a 400+ head and arming myself with a 1x15 Cab.
The questions I’m wondering from you fellow Mesa players is should I sell the 4x10 cab for a newer model which is rated at 4ohms? Or will I be fine with sticking to my current 4x10?
Also any other possible suggestions and recommendations about other potential gear Head and Cab wise such as the 1000 or 4x12 cabs would be nice also.
Cheers guys

Your current 8-ohm Powerhouse 4x10 would work fine with a 400+. You'd also be fine adding another 8-ohm 1x15.
(running two 8-ohm cabs would make for a 4-ohm load)
This amp can handle 2, 4 or 8 ohm speaker loads, so its very flexible as far as many different cab combinations.

If you end up deciding on a different cab for the 400+, I suggest you seriously consider the Bergantino NV610.

What Anderbass said. The big reason people like a 4 Ohm cab over an 8 ohm cab is because with a solid state amp, the amp puts out more power with the 4 Ohm cab. With the 400+ or other tube head, the full wattage goes into any Ohm cab or combination of cabs, so by sticking with the 8 Ohm versions you'll be able to run more cabs should you ever need to. A 400+ running 4 8 Ohm cabinets is a terrifying thing.

What's the best option for a rack/case for a Mesa head (my new BB750, see above)? I know there's the one Mesa makes, but I like to have some alternatives. Preferably ones that are available in Europe...

My current Gator rack seems to be too small (depth-wise) + it doesn't have any air holes in the sides. :hmm:

Tips?

P.S But I'm loving the head itself, and will get mesa cabs/cab next. My Warwicks can't handle the American muscle. :p

Sweet cheers for the help Freddles and anderbass!
One last question. I've read many reviews about the 400+ and they comment on its "great rock n roll" tone. Would you concider the 400+ quite versatile for getting great tone for different genre's and feels? (For example I mainly play Funk, Jazz and Hip hop but I'm going to use the head for rock and metal gigs also)

Here's the most update list people. All PM's have been replied to. If you sent one and I didn't respond back, I'm deeply sorry. School started up again and I've been quite busy with that, as well as the onward progression of my band. Just got my 5 string Schecter too, so I've been doing a bit of noodling lately.

Hello y'all

I'm thinking bout joinin the M/B club, But i need persuasion.

I am gassing hardcore for an M-pulse/walkabout amp head. I a/b'd one to my ampeg svt450h and the difference was WOW!

Only thing, I can't justify spending 1195$ for it new. Can you guys persuade me to buy one?

hah
