Mesa Boogie Walkabout Mega-thread part Four!

I haven't played a Precision much in a while...
I've been a 5 string player for some many years now, so the 1972 ash/maple P that was my main road dog for years has been sleeping.

Well, I got this Lakland USA Bob Glaub ash/maple P5 in a few weeks ago, and I gotta say,
Precision+Walkabout pretty much just rules.

To one extent, a nice Precision is "just a nice Precision."
But, ya know, this one is really well done.
Great fit and finish, nice striped ash, pretty birdseye'd f/b. The body is poly, the neck is a real thin hand rubbed nitro.
And the Nord NP5 is a great engine to put in your Precision, so, no complaints there.

It weighs about 8.5lbs, which is nice;)

My only grouse is the upper horn falls short of having the strap button at 12th position.
All my old Fenders have the strap button closer to "11.5," and it really does make a difference on having a comfortable reach to first position. So, this one, with the strap button at ~13, plus the 35" scale, has first position someplace I'm not quite used to...but I'll get there. Minor niggle.

After the 1st set I tilted the cab up so it pointed at my head,,, helped but no cigar..... I think I've been spoiled by the Mesa WA lately.
Makes me think of offloading the LMII- as the WA will do all it does & more- only more nicer ;-/
I've been thinking of doing this - as the LMII isn't getting much use since getting the WA, but due to the LMII's effortless portability, (what I thought was) great tone & power etc..etc.. I've been hanging onto it.
I'll give it a cuppla more chances. but STRIKE ONE!!

I brought my LMII and the Walkabout to rehearsal a few weeks ago. After several songs, I switched back to the Walkabout, it spanked the LMII in the rehearsal space setting. I like the LMII with my two 4x10's though and with my 6 String Bass it sounds great. Walkabout is the headliner these days.

gotta say, owning a walkabout has had me reaching for the precision more than I had been for a while. finally changed the chromes off my somewhat-new-to-me precision relic (realized i absolutely hated the chromes) and threw some nickel round daddarios on there... this thing kills through my walkabout rig, no question. while my ric waits to take a trip to the repairshop, i'm plenty happy to give the precision some love through the walkabout.

Me too I use Dunlop nickels though! I grab one of these most of the time. Actually really like what it does with my active bass too!

Thought I already commented on this one...glad you love it Alan! Killer bass...I want to see a photo you took of it! One of those bench shots!
