I suppose I could run my UL410 and Henry 8x8 together sometime...not too scenic, but it'd slam.
Yeah-the full stack is more sonic than scenic, but the head with either the wizzies OR the 15/6 looks cool. I'm really digging the Wizzies and actually toying with the idea of a red headcase for the WA.....

I wanted WA tone at bigger volume, so I parted with my M9 with the compromise of needing more cabs. Now running my WA head with 1,2 or 3 cabs as needed, all 8 Ohms: 2 Wizzy 12s and an LDS 15/6. For most of my sparse gigging, either the pair of 12s or the 15 alone will be fine, but we have 2 outdoor gigs in August when I'll bring the whole shabang
Nice! I used to run my Walkabout with two Wizzy's, and that was a great combination, IMHO.

...since my last WA came without a Mesa case...You can buy a small carry-on type suitcase-smaller than the usual carry-on...just a little larger than the walkabout. The WA lays on its side with about 2 inches to spare overall in re: to depth, with some padding, with wheels and handle and a side zipper case with room for a few cords and effects for about 10 bucks at Walmart and a few more $ at better stores...Sorry Mesa but I find this roomier, more protection, cheaper and more practical than the flimsey cloth bag...Peace...DAcat

Not using it as a DI, just wanted to see if it's possible to use it as a preamp to drive an external power amp by taking a lineout from the effects send into the power amp.
Just so I'm sure, if you operate the WA without speakers being plugged in, there's no chance of damaging the amp ??

While I had the M3 and two PH112's, I did run the walkabout thru them.
The new ones, with the player control network are nice.
They sound good, the horn attenuation system is subtle but nicely useful, and one of the cabs alone seemed at it's power handling limits...

Thx. This is a newer one and will be tried on top of the 15-6. I can't imagine using it alone since it likely weighs the same as the 15-6 and is almost as large. Heavy buggers for what they are......like a lot of Mesa gear.
I have a pair of PH112, that I've been using with WA and M6.
Loud, lots a presence, quite clear (with the M6). Love them.
i'm on my second walkabout head,
my original head had the burgundy screening,
my current head has the blue.
i've swapped tubes, had it checked out,
no issues. but, the older head definitely sounded better.
anyone who's had a few of the different versions
care to comment on their experience/ have an opinion?

Currently have both 09 blackface and an older silver-blk one. They sound identical to me.....even the fans
i'm gassing for the black face,

yep, fans are equally loud.
main difference is in the front end, i'm using the exact same bass/ fx as before but the blue head saturates at a lower input volume.
i run the input at 10-11 o'clock, whereas the red was usually between 12 and 2. the red was a bit more open sounding, took extreme dynamics on the front end a little better.
once again, i've swapped tubes etc...
still sounds great, but is definitely different...

Weird. I dig the blackface look as well, but agree with Rickenboogie and prefer the knurled metal knobs over the bakelite ones. I was gonna send the older one that I picked up used to Mesa for updates and get a headcase for it.....but realized I was only 200 away from a new blackface in a headcase....so I ordered that and the older one (originally from TBer Buffordbass) is sold to Smallmouth Bass up in Montreal-latest member of the club who heard a WA in a music shop while trying out a Fender J and was smitten

Yup. No chance. The speaker load thing relates only to amps with an output transformer - i.e. tube amps.
