Mesa M6 Carbine Mega Thread part 3:

That is an awesome deal. Totally jealous.

Finally used my M6 at my first real gig. Normally I run it through an Ampeg SVT410HLF but since the stage was small I opted to bring my back GK 210 cabinet. The amp slays. I am now looking for a Mesa 212 to pair it with, so I'm glad to hear they work great together.

I've had the Mesa for a month and finally got to play it with band through the Berg HT322. Heavens me. This is certainly the best rig I've ever owned. What this Mesa is able to push through the Berg, other amps I've tried through it can't begin to approach. And the voicing control compensates well for the mid scoop that's baked into the Berg. Overall, a dream match for the Smith. I believe my rack system may soon be up for sale.

Im in. But i dont know for how much longer! the new Fender Super Bassman heads look real nice.

You'll stay or be back. Looks is one thing. Tone is another. :smug:

I just got my second M6 (and have had an M9) in the last 1.5 years. This is such truth. Other stuff has some appeal on paper, but sitting down to jam or on the gig/rehearsal spot, nothing else gets it quite right like this one.

Also, I have a question for M6 FX users- what have you found to be good OD and distortion pedals for these amps? I recently got a Big Muff Deluxe and it sounded good w/ my Trace 300H, but I am not digging it with the M6. I haven't spent much time on it, but it just sounds "off". I had a Boss ODB-3 before this for "over the top" distortion stuff and sounded fine actually but the Muff just isn't a good mating so far. Has anyone used the B:Assmaster w/ the M6? I'm wondering how that pairing would work as I've wanted that pedal for some time now.

So I was sitting in my basement man cave last night, watching TV and noodling on my '74 Jazz through the M6 + two Euphonic VL-208s. I was starting to think the Mesa had a bit too much treble. Then my wife started vacuuming upstairs and BOOM--rig sounded sweet against all that white noise din. WIN.

Im looking into the Darkglass Vintage Tubes for OD. I have fultone OCD right now. Its good but you loose some bottom.
The VT bass is cool but colors the tone alot.

I may have to look into that. I want a new OD and distortion both. I've looked at the Darkglass BK3 but wasn't sure if it and the B:Assmaster basically were the same thing.
I like the OCD too but I had to use an EQ with mine to make it worthwhile for bass. However it's probably my favorite overall TS clone.

LOL!
Will she be vacuuming at your gigs?
That would be awesome!

Love my B3K! It's nice to have a pedal that allows me to dial in anything from a light edge to heavy fuzz without sounding synthesized.

I have a '73 Jazz, an M6, and two VL-208's, and that is - indeed - a great rig. :bassist: :bassist: :bassist:

Re: dirt pedals - I was goofing around last night with my M6. I found a great trick:
Bass signal into an effects loop blend pedal, with a Rusty Box in the blend loop, into the amp's input. I could dial in all kinds of hair & mid range beauty, without excessive treble, while retaining the M6's huge clean low end. Very cool! No crossover needed, no second amp or cabinet required.

The Rusty Box has a really useful 3-band EQ.

In with a new-to-me M6, thanks mb! First impression through my crappy GK 112 is that it's a lot of amp with a plenty flexible eq. Real impressions tonight with my band and an NV610. :hyper:

This thing is a bit hissy though. You guys experience that? Even with master and gain at 0 it could use some deEssing. I tried 5 different 12AX7s and found no difference. Not a huge deal except for very low volume playing. My main cab has no tweeter anyway.
