Mesa Subway 115 with 210 or other 115

That's my take between the two so far. Not gritty as in a bill in dirtiness, but his description of "raw" rings true. It's got the capability to bite in some frequencies where the 15 is rounder.

If you want rock/hard rock... the 212 fits the bill.

I have the opportunity to buy some Subway cabinets from a friend that has 2 SW115's & 1 SW210. As funds are limited, I'll have to buy one at a time, but plan on buying at least two of them. Should I go with a 115 first?

I recommend demoing them first if possible. The 1x15 is recommended more. Its a slightly smaller cab if that matters to you. Both are excellent as I own both. If I could buy 2 I would buy 1 of each. They make an excellent combo.

Since it is a friend take a 1x15 and 2x10 Home/Rehearsal/Gig and choose which one 'Speaks' to you on their own

I own and use both of those cabs. The SW115 is a fantastic place to start and what I would chose out of that lot were I in your shoes.

I own one of each and, at home, usually prefer the 115. (Only played the stack in a band setting, never just one.)

The Subway cabs are great. I tried the 112, 210 and the 115 and now own a pair of 115's. They are superb.

Hello!

I am still trying to decide what to get, but I am getting there. I have a Subway D800+ amp and want Mesa cabs.

I ruled out the bigger Mesa Subway cabs (410, 215) because of size and weight (I have to use stairs a lot) and I hear so many good things about the 115 that I know I want this one for sure.

I play in a Foo Fighters tribute band right now, and otherwise my kind of music is rock/pop rock/post-hardcore.

With all that in mind.. would you choose another 115 or a 210 to go with the 115?

I know so many people seem to recommend 2x 115s but part of me that is used to 410s until now thinks that maybe the 115/210 combo is the way to go.. And also it would bring more versatility I think, but so many people recommend 2x 115s.. it is hard to decide

I would love to hear from people that had the same dilemma and had to choose one or the other.

PS: I didn't talk about the 112 because I don't know why it is the one I am the least interested in, but I may be wrong!

We do Foo Fighters songs also, I use a WD800, Subway 1x15 and a 4x10 cab.

I never followed up, but I ended up getting both cabs and I agree with what everyone else here said. The 15 is slightly rounder sounding. The 210 has a slight edge or "grit" to it. The sound amazing stacked together. I've played about 10 gigs with the full stack now, and they have performed flawlessly! Couldn't be happier.

So I'm considering a few options - I have a powerhouse1000 that is just too much to move - and an old 400+ tube head. Considering pushing the subway cabs with the 400+. either a 215, or a 115/210 combo. I've seen the 115/410 combo and the impedance I think would cause issues for the tube head...

Also may pick up a TT800 or 800+ depending on the gig.

Anyone have the 215? Lots of good feedback on the 115/210. Just wondering how it would handle the tube head.....

As far as the 115/410, one is 8ohm, one is 4 - forgive my ignorance, would that mismatch cause a problem? If not, would you plug both into the 4 ohm output at that point? Beyond that, the other consideration is the 215 - Anyone with any experience on that cab? how would that compare to the other two options I'm considering?

The 410/115 combination works fine with the 8 ohm 115 because it helps with appropriate power balance. It's not a good combination for a solid state amp that can't safely drive <4 ohms however. It's not a problem with the Bass 400+ though.

That said, the tonal balance is better with the 210, as is the stacking format. The 410 was intended to stack with another 410.
