I came late to the Thrash-party, about 20 years late, and it's not my style of playing, but I still love it. Let's put it this way: Kill 'Em All is my favourite Metallica album, I guess that says alot.

I'm a metal-head. I grew up listening to hard rock and heavy metal music. when I was a kid, I listen to bands like black sabbath, ozzy osbourne, pantera, anthrax, white zombie, megadeth, motorhead, metallica, etc. plus I was the only rocker kid in my 8th grade class. while everyone in my class listens to bubblegum pop and hip hop, I listen to hard rock and heavy metal. and over the years, I been listening to more metal bands and had a lot of favorites ever since. I currently listen to bands like Iced earth, in flames, soilwork, mnemic, and many more. in the past, I have played for a number of local bands. including side-projects and temporary bands. some of them are metal bands and some of them are rock bands. I currently form a metal band where I am lead singer/bassist. here's the link to my band's fb page.

So tomorrow I'm going to check out a new drummer......I don't know about you guys, but for us, drummers are always the hardest spot to fill.

This will be our 3rd in 6 months.

I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Thanks, R.I.P...If you're having trouble finding a drummer, you could try using a drum machine. that's what I would do with my band. I program drums when I record music and use a drum machine live. I have a friend who performs live with a drum machine and his band sounded totally awesome. speaking of which, I support local bands and his band is one of the best local band I ever seen and do shows with. I've looked up to this band for a long time. here are 2 of their best songs.

I love metal and always will! You guys have seen some amazing shows, that I didnt have a prayer of seeing,growing up in the bible belt. My favorite show will always be opening for Acid Bath in a small bar when i was a teenager. Those guys were amazing live!

You know, I've been thinking about that. I got a Beat Buddy (check it out) that I use for practice, and been trying to figure out how to use it for practice in a band setting.

Growing up in So Cal certainly has it advantages when it comes to seeing big names.....but honestly, I love going to see bands in the smaller venues. We got a few places down here that hold a few hundred people that always have great bands

thanks man. i agree with the small venue shows. i saw goatwhore 5-6 years ago in a small club to, they were bad ass. Unfortunately my job only lets be jam with friends on occasion now. I do usually take time off when my cousins band plays in ms now, but thats only a couple of times per year.

After I discovered Metallica when I was 16(y 2000) I dug deeper into metal. Still got a lot of records, but Death Metal never stuck aside from some Melodic bands like Carcass and At The Gates. Also listened to some Power Metal, but can't stand that anymore aside from Iced Earth, but they're more on the thrashy side anyway.

Still love the Overkills, Exoduses, Slayers, etc of the world.

Bands like Black Sabbath, Maiden and Motörhead mold more with my livelong love for hardrock.

It was a weird time, a lot of people didn't like metal, and stayed true to hard rock. Even the band that I was playing in at 17 didn't want anything to do with metal.

But just like so many things, with time, it becomes more accepted

that can work. or if you got an Ipad or like an mp3 player or something, you can use something like ez drummer to program drums and put the drum tracks into an mp3 file and have it export it to your music playing device(i.e mp3 player, Ipod, Ipad). that's what my friend did with his band and I personally think that's ingenious. It turned out to be a biker party! When I pulled up I was like, what's up with all the Harleys?

a biker party, eh?...this reminds me of a gig I once did with my brother's old band at a bar/restaurant somewhere in springfield. I was informed that it was a benefit gig provided by the Illinois state police to help a young girl who was diagnosed with leukemia. when we arrive at the gig, we noticed that something's wrong with this picture. we noticed that there was a bunch of bikers at the gig. and we thought that this was a benefit gig. but then we found out that most of the bikers were in fact illinois state cops. I can honestly say that this was the weirdest gig I've ever done. despite the confusing, it was a fun gig. still it was a weird to see a bunch of bikers at a benefit gig.
