Thanks man, and to all who have said nice things about this. We have about 10 guys trying to sort the build out, once we come to a concensus we will post here. There may still be more help needed, mostly support for Alex's plight for the moment. Thanks to all

Count me in too. Like some have already posted, I don't have nearly the experience that most others do, but I'm willing to help out in any way I can.

I am following this thread with great interest. The suspense is killing me on Alex's dealings with Mr Personality, & the community support that is being shown here to right a potential wrong is beyond anything I have seen at any time on my computer screen. I love this site

Looking back, I'm not sure why the details weren't ironed out either, John. In June I realised the mistake and attempted to do just that, but as you can see by the posts, it feel on deaf, ears.

Thanks for the kind offer re: pickups. I may just have to take you up on that yet.

Alex

And let me know if I can help you out with a FlexCore preamp.

I'm also extremely proud to be a member of this community... I've been with this thread since the beginning, but now I have been galvanized into action! I'm no luthier by any stretch of the word, but I'd be glad to donate some strap locks or something! Schaller, Dunlop, you name it, I'm there. :D

I've been away from TB for a bit, leveling up on my own game, but I'm saddened to see this thread. Mikey is/was a fixture around here, not everyone might have appreciated his style but his posts kept things interesting.

Sorry to hear about the bass, Alex, that's the real shame.

Count me in as a possible contributor for the community relief project JC, I can bang out a killer precision-radiused fretboard on the robot, compound radius even, if anything.

This is appalling! Talk about a nightmare. I feel so bad for the OP. Talkbass is a cool community. It's amazing that people have offered what they have. I've seen TB users rally and make people straighten out their mistakes in the past. I've emailed the blues society he is a part of about this. YOU CAN TO!

[email protected]

Mike is listed on there. I was cordial and explained what was alleged. I wasn't rude or offensive. I suggest everyone do the same. Apply some pressure. Embarrass him around his friends and associates into making things right.

While I understand your reasoning to suggest this, I wouldn't bother because he's there. He'll just explain it away ( disgruntled customer, random Internet argument spam, etc..). He's obviously written off this whole thing, including this community. I just hope there aren't other Alexes floating around out there.

There are always other Alexes floating around out there. Trust people whose acheivements are evident in the real world and not the just virtual one.

Very true. Not so long ago I was in a similar situation with a different builder. It took a while, but I eventually found a way to turn it into something positive. It sounds like lots of people are more than willing to help Alex do the same.

Yeah he can but if enough TB users rally and contact him through different channels it can work. There was recently a thread about a bad bass purchase. A kid from a band here in the Seattle area tried to pull a fast one. He pictured one bass for sale and sent a different bass to the buyer. The buyer was unsuccessful trying to get it straightened out by himself. He was across the country. He brought up his concerns on here and a flood of people used their voices on FB, email and phone. Within days the seller had responded due to the pressure and made the deal right. He could live with it when only a couple people knew but when the bands Facebook page was getting hit with comments by TB users it made him look bad and he quickly tried to make things right. It wasn't his worry about losing this community. It was this community embarrassing him in the public arena of FB in front of his friends and fans that made him respond. It may or may not be a coincidence that the same band is posting ads seeking a bassist on CL now :)

Talking directly to him is obviously pointless and he might not care about his online reputation here but he will care about the people he sees face to face on a regular basis.

Following along now. I hope the story ends well.

If it doesn't, this clown should definitely pay in the form of his inner circle knowing what an irresponsible person he is. Let's see what that does for his rising career.

I have been amazed with the threads I have seen like this on TB. If you want to get Really depressed, look at the Darrin Huff support thread. Sigh.

Irresponsible business people really suck. There needs to be legislation to make it easier to get after these people.

Musiclogic: If you guys need any money for parts it may be a good idea to set up a PayPal account so we can donate a bit. :)

(I don't have the skills to make any meaningful contribution in any other way. ;) )

People like you and I can always just donate the needed parts directly, that way as to not only pitch in a little of our share, but to also save time that the big boy builders would've otherwise spent looking for parts. That's why I'm trying to put forward strap locks for the cause. I'm pretty sure there's still pots, fret wire, a nut, knobs (maybe) and other parts that are still needed. :D

True, but since I live in Norway it would be pretty wasteful to buy parts here and ship them overseas. (Prices here is 2-3 times what they are in the US, and shipping costs is pretty high.)

My parts drawer doesn't contain much interesting at the moment anyway. :( ;)
