Hi, I'm Greg
Band: HA! I suck! But enjoy playing
Toys: Peavey Cirrus
MIM Frettless Jazz
CIJ custom 32" Jazz
72 P bass
Dano 63
SWR 350X with 212 Eden cab
Yea, all this stuff and I suck.
I got into playing bass because my son plays (he is the REAL talent in the family)
I went to the clinic last night with my son. I have to say that it was the best!! My son was hesitant about going. He said "I have never heard of this guy" "He doesn't play my style of music" I said he doesn't play my style ether but he is very good at what he does. Norm is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet and puts on a GREAT clinic and goes out of his way to answer your questions without talking down to you. I am 52 my son is 15 we both walked out of there with new inspiration and ideas. Norm stayed late to answer questions. I had to practically drag my son out of there reminding him he had school in the morning. Norm answered my questions but what impressed me was how he went out of his way to explain things to this 15 yo Punk Rocker. The Plymouth Covenant Church needs to be thanked too for putting this clinic on. If you hear of Norm holding a clinic in your area DON'T MISS IT !!! Once again, Thanks Norm and thanks Plymouth Covenant Church

Howdy guys..

You sincerely missed out (the Norm Event)... I've been to a bunch of "clinics" the end up being sales pitches... he made it known how to buy his stuff.. said a Lighting Fast Prayer and then got down to tips for folks of all ages.

Norm is gracious. I'm blessed to have had an appointment with him after everyone else left the venue. Will be doing an article.

Tim

Steamgirl: I swear I was behind you in line at Menards on University in St. Paul at about 2:30 on Wednesday. I couldn't place the person with a context until we were both checked out so I didn't accost you.

Yep, heh - that would have been me, for sure! I sure bought a lot of stuff that day. :)

thanks Rick for posting the synopsis of the bass clinic. Those are some good takeaways. I had a lot of renovation work to do this weekend, but keep us informed of other clinics, and I'll definitely try to make it out.

I'll second that!!! I always appreciate being kept in the loop on these things. It seems that everything happens on the coasts and to get to them it's not exactly like driving into Wisconsin.

So it's always nice to be exposed to the stuff happening here.

Thanks,

Jeff

I live like two minutes from the Schmidt Music and I was there at about 11:00 AM just to check things out. They had like 10 flea basses set up for people to check out. So I left and came back at 12:50 and there was a line out the door wrapped around the building. I talked to the Schmidt guys outside and they said it was only for autographs and that he won't be doing any demos or anything. Even if he wanted to....the place is so small there isn't enough room for everyone.

The basses are made in China and at $500 are overpriced IMO.

Disapointing...

Sounds to me you didn't try one - it is pretty difficult to buy something better for 499! I was sold instantly - and I own a few nice axes that are much more....

Most people that showed up heard him talk and play before the autograph/photo thing was blowing the time plan.
