My '59 P-Bass, Fendowsky and my Joiner Fretless have been setup by Jeff Joiner (Joinercape on TB) who, unfortunately, lives on Cape Cod. (nice place to visit though ;) ) You'll surely have an opportunity to check out those setups :)

Most of my other basses have been setup by Leonard Shapiro, who does a good job for me, when he does it, but I haven't been super thrilled with the setups done by his apprentice/employee lately... :( I usually will assemble and do the setup to my best ability, and then it needs tweaking from there.

Jeff has just finished an awesome new chambered alder body & fretted neck for me... I have the neck here already, the electronics are ready to go (Sadowsky P-J & Pre with VTC). The body has been finished by Ben Lindsey and is on the way to me. :hyper: I'll do the shielding and assembly this weekend if it gets here in time, and I'd really like to show this one off next week.

As it will be a couple of months before Jeff comes out for a visit again, I'm looking for some other options on quality setups. I could send it out to Massachusetts for a setup, but that seems excessive and $$$ in just shipping cost.

BTW, Jeff's setups are incredible! He is Fender certified tech, craftsman and a builder too... electric & acoustic, LOTS of years experience - and really fussy. Jeff is a great player too!

Here's a picture of Jeff playing a bass he did for a awesome player out on Cape Cod - His natural finished Mahogany/Ebony fretless is on a stand in the background next to his (recently sold) Sadowsky P-J. BTW, Ben did the awesome transparent paint job on that body too!

and here is my (lined) fretless that I'll be bringing (Passive Sadowsky SCs)

Thanks Dave for your nice comments, enthusiasm, moral support, and encouragement...just want to point out that my good friend and highly respected luthier Fran Ledeaux of Bay Fretted Instrument and Repair did the final setup and finish repair on the fretless...I would never take credit for his unfailingly top quality work. I have learned so much from him in the past twenty years...hope the GTG is a huge success!

I'd love to play the best pro setup bass in our market....

I get tons and tons of gear mailed to me for setup ... want to know if I'm up to par or not.

How much do you charge for set up?
I sold my Warwick and got a amazing custom bass on a good deal. But it's got a poor set up. I don't have sufficient tools to adjust the bridge, and I actually broke my B string when I try it. -_-

My fretless will be there, but the fretted will not be ready by then, and I don't want to rush it.

I got the body to evaluate, and it's a satin nitro - but I really think gloss is the way to go, so I'm going have it shot and buffed.

1pc chambered Alder body with awesome grain. I'll bring it to the next GTG :bassist:

Lookin' good! Where did you acquire the body and whats the weight???

It's the body for my Joiner fretted build-in-process. The body was sent for my opinion and is on its way back for some tweaks at the painter (Ben Lindsey). Jeffrey Joiner (joinercape on TB) is the builder and he did it the old fashioned way... himself. He even hand formed the neck - same as on the fretless I'm bringing.

The finished weight will be just over 8 lbs.

Unfortunately I found out late yesterday that I was going to Madison for a business trip as soon as I can get my car loaded up after my church on Sunday. I'm not going to make it to this one. I'll bring a bass and the Fender RAD Bass amp to Madison though, and tip back a beer in all of your honor.

There in spirit.
