[Minneapolis/MN Thread] Where's the "beer" thread icon?

Hey guys...anyone in town interested in picking up a touring gig? I just got back from a couple weeks in LA working on a record with a band, and the bass player they had lined up isn't going to work out.

It's looking like I'm going to cover a few more dates with them between now and July...but I REALLY don't want to tour (I've spent 3 of the last 4 years doing 100+ shows a year) and these guys are in a position where that's going to be a big thing for them.

I know they're looking for someone who's in their 20s. Ability to sing backing vocals is a MUST.

I'm trying to NOT mention them by name just so this thread doesn't show up on searches...but if you're interested (or even curious), PM me.

I should add...this is to be a permanent position...they're looking for a member.

Music is hard rock verging on metal...but with big hooks. Think Killswitch Engage or All That Remains...but with a touch more pop sensibility and bigger hooks (and a bit less double-kick work).

Fellow MN tbers,
Despite efforts to find a job, I remain unemployed.
So I ask you all if you know of any jobs in the metro area that I, a 19 year old, might apply for.
If not a job, perhaps a bass related pastime, paying or no.
Thanks in advance. Help me talkbass, you're my only hope!

Besides bass, what do you like to do, or rather what type of work are you looking for, realistically? Inside, outside, in an office, traveling, what? Any particular preferred area of the metro? I can ask around.

I'm a people person, so any job involving dealing with the public would be alright. I was a Boy Scout, so I have a fair aptitude towards manual labor, etc. I'm decently built, heavy lifting is not a problem.
Any work at all, inside or out, traveling or not.
I'm in East St. Paul, so the closer to there the better.
Thanks!
Oh, I've still got that varitone switch if you want it...:smug:

Cool. I picked up some D'Addario ETB92 tapewounds the other day from another tb'er since they were cheap. I just got an Ibanez Artcore AGB140 that I want to try them on. Should be sweet. I'll give the GHS strings a shot if these ones suck.

Bring the Artcore to the next GTG. Mine has Lakland Joe Osborn stainless steel flats on it and an SGD Lutherie ND3 pickup in it and I'd love to A/B them.

Will do. I have one gripe, so far. The D'Addario strings don't have long enough windings for the Artcore since its tailpiece is so far away from the saddle section of the bridge. I need to find a set with extra-long windings. D'Addario makes a lot of super-long scale sets, but not in the tapewounds. Gonna have to try another brand.

Luckie, can you measure the winding length on your tapewounds? Measure from the ball to the end of the windings and I'll see if your brand will work.

I had the same trouble with D'Addario Chrome flatwounds. The Joe Osborn flats fit well and they're GHS made, I think. GHS Precision flats have been good (for the most part) on one of my fretlesses that only string through the body so I'm willing to bet that GHS tapewounds would work for you.
