As expected, the Mariners and Twins were postponed. Until today. Is it really going to be warmer one day later in Minnesota? Whoever made the schedule wasn't thinking very well.

It was warm enough and nobody seems to have been injured. And the Mariners are undefeated and in first place.
Rough start to the Jays' home opener… but they've come back to tie it up. You can never count this lineup out. Here's hoping they can finish the job and win this game!

They came back from going down 7-0 early. Their starter (Berrios) didn't even make it out of the first. Very ugly start to the game. But this lineup is never out of a game. Tied it up 7-7 by the 5th inning, took an 8-7 lead, Texas tied it 8-8, but then the Jays tacked on a couple runs late and held on to win 10-8.
I am so happy that baseball is back. I'm gonna be living and dying with every pitch all summer long, and hopefully deep into autumn if the Jays can go on a run into the postseason.
The Raps were also down early in their game tonight, and they also came back to win against the lowly Houston Rockets. What a night!

Mets got HBP 4 times in the first two games, including twice in the face (Alonso and Lindor). Not sure when, but I have a feeling there will be a reaction.

IMO pretty well all championship things are ugly monstrosities. I dunno, maybe I'm just not a ring-guy
I don't like seeing them shown off on the broadcast either. You might, in time, come to appreciate the DH. IMO many (most?) pitchers weren't trying to get good at hitting anyways. Now your team's lineup doesn't have automatic out in it anymore

I am also struggling. The lockout really got to me. I totally forgot about Opening Day. I got home from work, looked online, and there was the score. I caught about 2 innings of the Brewer game yesterday and turned it off.
My issues are with MLB. It seems to be going more and more to the three true outcomes. I want to see something other than a walk, strikeout, or home run on every at bat. At this point, let's just hurry the process and make it a home run derby.
Yesterday, the Brewers had runners on second and third with one out, down by 4. A base hit would have scored 2. Both hitters were righties, so the Cubs shifted to have three players on the left side of the infield, leaving the first baseman alone on the right. Poking one to that empty right side would have cut the lead in half. Instead, their only thought was to get the ball to Waveland Ave.
The result? One questionable called strike (according to how the ump was calling the game) and five swinging strikes on very hittable pitches. Hiura struck out on a 92 mph fastball with very little movement. Why? Because he was looking at the left field foul pole when the pitch crossed the plate.
I hope I'm wrong. I hope the game I love is not headed down this path.

Actually, I've quite enjoyed the Mets so far. Notwithstanding the wins, they are hitting to all fields, running, bunting, hustling, etc. No HR Derby ball. It's been refreshing.
Watched the Mets kick the crap out of the Nationals (what is up with those RIDICULOUS 3d logo batting helmets for the nats? They look like they are from a discount disney store), while getting hit at the plate 5 times in 3 games. Loving Buck's managing style already, and the players seem to absolutely love him. Watching Lindor get emotional talking about the dugout/bullpen clearing to have his back was refreshing, and bodes well for his attitude this season.
Other random thoughts for the start of the season...
Velocity being valued 100% over control, no matter the risk, will eventually result in someone being catastrophically injured, or worse, at the plate.
If Judge wants Trout money, he needs to not miss hundreds of games. What a fake eggshell piece of crap. How about this? Yankees should give him what he wants, but ZERO guaranteed money if he plays less than 140 games, and every time he doesn't hustle, dock him $10,000,000.
The DH is the worst rules move in the history of the game. This is not arguable. Putting it in the NL is a step towards me writing off the sport I've loved literally my entire life (my grandfather had season Mets tickets starting at the polo grounds). Coddled billionaires having key skills removed from the requirement to play can in no way be considered a positive move for baseball. The DH is a joke.
Worst commissioner in the global history of organized sport. Ghost runners? Pitch clocks? Electronic catchers signs (really?) National league DH? Nobody asked for any of this. No. Body. If you want to speed up the game, put the clock on the manically preening OCD dopes in the batters box.

Although Im pretty traditional (*"&#@, I play on a team that plays by 19th century rules), I don't mind the electronic signals. It will speed up the game, never mind the sign stealing fiasco.

I've actually come around on the DH. I was anti-DH and was happy when the Brewers switched leagues. However, I have changed my stance over the last couple of years.
On a busy day for a position player, he gives max effort about 10-15 times in a game. A pitcher, on the other hand, gives max effort at least 15-25 times. Per inning. A pitcher is different from a position player. Their conditioning is geared toward being able to give that max effort.
My pro-DH stance may seem to go against my complaint that the game is headed toward a home run derby, but it is not. On the contrary, allowing the pitcher to rest between innings helps them. I have seen many times when a pitcher gets on base, then has to hustle on the base paths only to be left stranded. When he comes out to pitch, he is not nearly as effective.
I'm not trying to change anybody's mind, just sharing my opinion.

How does an electric signal widget speed up the game? I see it as yet another reason the commish is a clueless media whore who quite obviously hates baseball. No one is asking for these changes. No. One. Did an electric signal crutch ever cross your mind before this?

Remember watching catchers step out on the he field to go over signs for the infield (or to discuss signs with the pitcher)? Or spending time going through sets of signs with a runner on second? Or waiting to have signs relayed in from the manager? It's nothing major, but with all the issues of teams using video and trash cans to steal signs, I can understand why.
Remember the "shot heard round the world"? It's pretty common knowledge that the Giants were signalling signs into the batter from the outfield score board.
Don't like runners stealing your signs? Don't put them on base, and get better signs.

Remember when quarterbacks first started using the helmet radio to get plays, and all the complaints about it? No, because it quickly became part of the game. It will be the same here.
Becoming "part of the game" does not mean it wasn't a bush league move that removed a skill set from the game, instigated by teams who couldn't get there plays called in time. The game lasted 100 years without helmet mics, gee, how did it ever get so popular without them? The over-teching of sport is beyond ridiculous these days.
