Sorry. I don't like shifts. I don't like the DH. I hate slow play. Signaling a pitch, especially when it lead to the sign stealing that ruined a championship, is hardly a "skill set" that is at the front of my list.

I think it's healthy to remember that there have been a lot of changes in baseball since it's advent. I don't agree or like all of them either
But I don't like slow games, sign stealing, the shift, or pitchers that can't hit

On a positive note, local kid Tyler Block got signed by the Rockies. He came is as a reliever against the Dodgers at Coors field and had a great day

I understand how cold it is in Minnesota in April. Of course, we had mixed snow and rain last night here in Seattle. But at least we have a roof when we need it.
And the Mariners got shelled this afternoon. Oh, well. A perfect start means using up too many wins too early in the season.
I will watch baseball or listen to it on the radio. I will not watch golf. Full stop. I don't have any interest in golf at all.
Bad afternoon for the Blue Jays today. Oh well, they won the series. Keep winning two of three and things will be alright. Pitching needs to get sharper though…

Aside from Pete Alonso throwing away the game (literally) with a 3 run error bottom of the 8th today, the Mets have indeed been bunting, hitting into the shift hole, working deep at bats, generally putting wood on leather, and fielding well. I'd like to make it a Mets contract condition that any player that doesn't do what Ron Darling and Keith Hernandez tell them to pay attention to from the booth, gets sent to Syracuse for 2 weeks for a fundy refresher.
Thank god both the shift and the ridiculous ghost runner are gone next year.

I'm hit-or-miss (heh) regarding both of those rules, but the ghost runner reminds me of a story. Several years ago when the Ghost Runner was being talked about, but not yet implemented in the Bigs, the local sports radio dudes (the main one is a die-hard Yankees fan but I've forgiven him) hated the idea, but said they'd be fine with it if it included the Molina Rule. Meaning you had to pick one of the three Molina brothers, two of whom have been retired for some time, to be your Ghost. As a Cards fan it always gave me a chuckle.
Fast forward to the first home game I watched after the COVID stoppage. The game went into extra innings, and guess who was on second?
The Man Himself. And guess what he did? A bush-league running error and he got picked off easily. The game went another inning, this time on second was Ryan Bader, the polar opposite of Yadi: young, ripped, super fast. Made almost the exact same blunder and also got thrown out.
It's a small sample size (3 games), but I think the games are going a little quicker and I'm happy about that. Yanks-Red Sox use to regularly take 4+hrs for a 9 inning game, but the first 3 came in at a tidy 3:40; 2:58 (!!!!) and 3:56 (11 innings) which isn't a bad pace.
People around here are complaining about the Sox pitching but they have only given up 13 runs in 28 innings which is a little over 4.33 runs per game (last year the AL was 4.58 runs per game). Once the Sox bats wake up, they should be OK.
There could be 3 or 4 teams with 90+ wins in the AL East - it will be especially brutal this year.

Yeah, the AL East is going to be a mess again. I'm one of the people expecting a bit of a drop-off from the Sox, but I think they're still going to be a tough team to play against that could get close to 90 wins. I'd like to see the Yankees fall apart but I wouldn't necessarily bet on it. To be fair, the Jays have some question marks too in the pitching department, so they could come up short of 90 wins if they can't stop other teams from scoring.
The pesky Rays are already 3-0 after opening their season against Baltimore. They were 18-1 against the O's last year! That's sickening. I cannot wait for a more balanced schedule.
