Really? They're still £364 on GAK at the moment.. tempted to pick up another one now, before they do inevitably go up.

Love mine, and for the initial price point, I don't think I've ever had a better bargain.

My old Fender Am Std jazz 5 was very heavy, i'm used to having a boat anchor around my neck. :p

Not a big fan of the new Jazz bass, especially as they're discontinuing the sunburst of the original, and I don't know what to think of the rotary switch - anyone here used one before? Just sounds dodgy and annoying to use to me :eyebrow:

But hey, Andertons in the UK has reduced the sunburst in price by over £100 so I've just ordered myself one of the original jazz basses :cool:

rotary switch is very good quality, strong and robust, and choice of splittage is perfect and sound really musicaly, Fender selected really 4 best sounding positions i think cause all give a very nice and different sound, just different textures.. but all groovy !

Iv play my MP V for a hour again today, im again so impress of it ! sorry to repeat it in all my reply ;-) !! that an Turbo-passive !

The 2-tone sunburst looks a lot nicer than the old 3-tone to me, but that's a personal thing. Prefer the satin finish, too, for my style of playing it rubs on the forearm a lot less.

The rotary switch is the best bit about it, the four settings are:

1. Middle humbucker & bridge humbucker
2. Middle humbucker & bridge outercoil
3. Middle outercoil & bridge humbucker
4. Middle outercoil & bridge outercoil

Combine that with a volume control for each pickup, you can blend any combination of either humbucker, or traditional singlecoil. It's basically just a regular pickup selecter, but in the shape of a knob instead of a switch. It's easy to use, pretty intuitive and opens up a lot of sounds.

The full humbucker & full singlecoil settings sound great, but my current favourite is the middle humbucker on full with some bridge singlecoil dialled in (about halfway). Quite a PJ-ish sound, lots of low end but with a bite I really like.

The only way it could have more options would be a separate tone knob for each pickup, but I don't think I would need it tbh.

Ok, sound better than I thought then :)
Still prefer the looks of the old one (the sunburst one anyway), mine arrived today and it looks gorgeous!

I do like the satin black - love the black/maple fingerboard combo, if only I could have both...

Is the string tree solid? From the pictures i've seen it seems like the one thing i may change out.

String retainer fixed solid but look cheaper... little afraid to let it for many years, i will change for separated hipshot strings retainer, like on Marcus V bass and that not expensive to order..

Even not very hurry to change that few things i will do that soon. then MP V will be almost perfect !

The Slotted plastic Nut are just good for 4 first strings, and bad slotted for the Low B.. i hope you will have a better one..

Don't forget and don't be afraid to setup little your bass, strings height, neck more straight, harmonic at bridge. then you will have a true tone and true response in slap, confort, and sounds more better.. also pickups was too near of strings i have put little down them, then sound is more clean and punchy now again !

Sorry again for my english, if im little difficult to understand :-)

anyway even plastic nut not so good slotted, fragile strings retainer, with the low price of the bass, some setup and upgrade are still very interesting for make it fabulous !

so soon for me, bone or brass nut, hipshot retainer, and maybe schaller mecanics/machine tunning..

I noticed MF only had the black or CAR. Really digging the white and maple look and could only find one place online that had it.

Stauros, please share a mini review and your 2 cents about the Dimension when you get it. I'm very curious how this thing performs out side of Fenders video.
