Modern Player 2.0 basses are on fender.com

The satin black MP Jazz 4 string has gone up on Andertons to just over £400 (although, bizarrely, the 5 string is still £364). I can't help but feel this is the start of the basses going up to their actual selling price, which I wouldn't be shocked by, because I feel like I practically stole mine. Hopefully it's just a mistake..

Looks like the old model, 3-tone sunburst is being discontinued; it's on Andertons for £320-odd, which is absurd for a new Fender these days.

I really would like that satin black/black/maple, though.

The white & sunburst 4 are still £364, so hopefully it's just a misprint, GAK still have them £364 as well. Need to get mine ordered just in case.

I like how Fender is testing the waters with a whole new bass in the MIC line as opposed to CS or MIA. Remember when the Carbonita was a $6000 CS bass and everybody kinda wanted one but wouldn't drop the cash on it? And how both an MIM and a Squier version of the Carbonita are now in the works? Well that says (to me) that Fender learned from last time and that when/if these sell well, they might scale it up a bit, maybe some more color options, controls, maybe even a second pickup (!!!). Just my thoughts though.

Regardless, I'm GAS'ing BAD for one in white, but I'll probably swap the pg and make a tort one for it. Maybe even put in a Bart pre with a DiMarzio DP127. That, in my opinion, would look SHARP.

Can you do a closeup of the back of the headstock? I'm interested in seeing what the tuners look like.

Thanks!

For you this is the pic you waiting about "tuners"

Thank you! They look solid. I tune all strings down 1/2 step, Have you tried detuning?

No, i only play normal tuning, i have to précise the trussroad is very sensible to setup it, every small move of the wheel change easylie the profil of the neck.

I will today check the real weight of the bass and convert kilos in lbs for the forum !

Im impress the biggest online shop of europe (thomann) are already out of stock for black satin and 2ts finish ! :-) too great for the price, no need to thinking for order one of it in 4 or 5 strings , this series is a nice gift from Fender !

Finaly Satin finish of the body, and also stantard pieces of wood for the neck give a better look than a bass with too much quilted of flammed maple, block inlays, matching headstock. thanks Fender !

A other pic of mine for you compare at side other bass how MP are pretty !

Gustobassman you will not regret ! 11 lbs but after that all is great ! im surprise Fender decide to sell that instrument to a low price like that..

Holy crap. Ive been gasping bad for a humbucker. Something growly and gnarly. I thought the MP Jazz was gonna be the one. Til I saw the video and wondered what the hell that pink bass in the background was. I can't wait to get my hands on a Dimension. Love it that Fender is going balls out with new pickups and designs. Is this 1983?
