Modern Player 2.0 basses are on fender.com

I noticed MF only had the black or CAR. Really digging the white and maple look and could only find one place online that had it.

Stauros, please share a mini review and your 2 cents about the Dimension when you get it. I'm very curious how this thing performs out side of Fenders video.

Will do... just received an email that it shipped- today- should see it by mid-week. I wasn't crazy about another black bass until I saw the 'transparency'- on the Sweetwater site:

Gonna get a new pickguard made for it... thinking of antique white... maybe tort

Triple-ply black-white-black could be nice too.

+1 I think a little contrast line would look good.

I'm imagining what would look good on the oly white version. I was thinking a w/b/w but it may look to blah. Paisley or a print of some sort may be the way to go. I think its too futuristic to go tort. Decisions. Decisions. Its weird when the classic looks that fit for a Fender just dont seem to work on a Fender. Haha. I like that problem. Fender really thought out of the box.

Gigged with my MP Jazz for the first time yesterday, it sounded great through the amp & monitors and was comfortable as far as weight and feel of the neck go. It was HOT under the stage lights and I didn't once feel the gloss finish became 'sticky' or hard to slide on.

This bass is going to become my main player, I think - the quality is fine for me, and it's so inexpensive that I'm not going to panic about it getting damaged etc. It's an entry line bass, but it's one that's actually a little better than it's price implies, IMO.

I think that dimension demo sounds great. Fender has pulled it out in terms of getting something new out there between this, their passive ATK, and the Cabronita, another totally new config. Excited to try them both. Just wish the dimension had a wider nut. BTW if anyone ever wondered when some builder was going to take a stab at the G&L L1000 passive coil splitting pup, this appears to be something in that vein. .

I am STOKED! My 2-tone sunburst MP Jazz V is shipping from Sweetwater today! I should have it by the end of the week. This will be my first "new" bass in many years. I can't wait! :bassist:

I got to borrow a MP Jazz V for a gig last night, nice low action straight out of the box, no sharp edges on the frets, bit heavy but not enough to be an issue.

It sounded great until the bridge pickup stopped working, not an issue now and not enough to stop me ordering one but what happens later on, as yet nobody seems to make pickups for these & Fender don't sell them separately, so is the only option having the pickup rewound if it fails?

I'm no expert but wouldn't it be more likely to be a problem with wiring or connection than a pickup just giving up? It's not something that's ever happened to me, thankfully, but I imagine if it's something that's likely to happen, it'd be while it's still covered by warranty... does that makes sense?

Enjoy, gusto! Looking forward to hearing someone else's opinions on these models.
