Modern Player 2.0 basses are on fender.com

Lightweight: compared to a bus :D

And yessir, it loos great.
That weight is not doable, for me.
Complete Fail. Too bad, I love the concept, I love the price.

I just had my local shop bring in a VM Jazz V & a MP Jazz V Satin. I'm going with whichever weighs less, because the tone's going to be negligible when I can upgrade the VM for less than the cost of going to the MP.

So, the obvious next question....

Who's gonna install an aftermarket pre?

Do you think it would be possible to install an Aggie or Bart pre and keep the rotary knob? IDK enough about electronics to know if this is even possible.

Either way, I'd like to play one in person first, but I'm definitely interested in buying on of these

Hmm.. my '97 Am Jazz V was a boat anchor. At least 11 lbs. FOR ME, i dont really think the weight will be an issue.

you could put in about any two band preamp that used a satck treble/bass single knob, where the former tone pot would be.

Delivery scheduled for tomorrow for my MP Jazz V!!!! Yippee!! :hyper:

I did notice something weird from Sweetwater's pics of my bass... It looks like my 2TSB does not have the skunk stripe down the back of the neck, but the black/maple version does. Anyone have a guess as to why that would be? If i remember correctly Lagoula's black/maple had the skunk stripe too. Hmm

My 2TSB doesn't have a skunk stripe. I'd guess its either an aesthetic choice, its using an existing range neck (maybe an MP Jaguar?), or its a 1 piece maple neck and actually needs a skunk stripe, which is probably the least likely reason.

I noticed MF only had the black or CAR. Really digging the white and maple look and could only find one place online that had it.

Stauros, please share a mini review and your 2 cents about the Dimension when you get it. I'm very curious how this thing performs out side of Fenders video.

So... received a Fender MP Dimension on Wed. Here's my take:

Quality workmanship, set-up good out of box... had to 'reverse' control pots and tighten input jack (15 mins).

I currently have a Squier CV Jazz neck and have owned a CV 50's P- and am convinced that they are the identical product (CIC)... that's not a bad thing- just an observation.

The body is a bit smaller than a J or P but sits like a J (offset)... is fairly light and feels nice. (pic for reference) I really like the charcoal transparent finish!

The neck is glossy and feels like a Jazz neck (good!)... but definitely would give it the scotchbrite, micro-mesh treatment!

The electronics are decent... no scratching or problems... just a bit 'mid-rangy' (what I expected). I like the wide range of tones... my favorites are pos. #2 & 4- which are the middle with each of the 'ends'- blended! (it's just like a Strat switch)

Basically plays like a Jazz bass- with a MM type of tone choices!

Having said all of that... I recently (yesterday) had to replace some wireless mics and, unfortunately, am in need of cash- so much as I like my new MP... I'm going to need to return to MF or will post in TB classified. :crying: I got a nice price so I will give a nice price! PM if you're interested... I will post an ad later on Friday. :help:
