Modulus Mob

I would LOVE to host a small GTG at my house if other TB'ers would like to come! Modulus Mobsters get preference!

Pete, which GB 212 cab did you get? At one time I had the older style Neox 2 x 112 cab. They were great, but more like 15s to my ear. I am a cab whore, so they went. :)

...with so many gigs on the calendar (9 in March alone), I am going for light weight. So many of our gigs are bars / resturants where we need a quick load in and out. I still have my 2 Bergantino cabs for the outside/ larger gigs. My tracking info has this puppy arriving tomorrow in time for my gig (I hope). I ordered it Monday from Rocket Music and they drop shipped it from Genz to me directly, as promised. Right after I ordered it I read more about the new CN 212 by Bergantino, which sound great but about $400 more so it's worth the risk. I too am a cab whore!

[Note: I always deal with Greg Bump @ Rocket Music, Blacksburg, VA. I even made the trek there last June and got to hang with Greg, the boys at Roscoe Guitars and Jimmy Haslip. Anyone who has dealt with Greg at Rocket Music will know why he's the best. Although, he does not carry Modulus]

Ok, enough about me, anxious to hear and see your new Q5 and would love to hang and have our Mass GTG.

I didn;t have a good camera (or camera phone) when I took these but here's a shot of it.

ohhhhhh my.

I had a Q6 Sweet Spot with a Lane Poor/Bartolini setup. I realized that such an incredible instrument was being wasted by me, so I ended up getting rid of it. At least the bass that replaced it is still my number one. At one point, I sent an email to Modulus asking about retrofitting the Turbo option, and they sent back some info on getting it done. I was so close to doing it.

I think I would love a Q4 Turbo SS. Yea, that's exactly what I want.

Wow, MarTONEbass, that is an absolutely beautiful Q5! Congrats. Honeyburst? What year, what pickups and electronics?
I have a 94 Q5 in Green-to-Blue that I am loving and just picked up a 94 Q4 in a similar finish to yours that should arrive in a couple of days. I will post pics when I get it as it has some unusual features.
I am curious about the Modulus-Aguilars that you mentioned...any pics or links?

I do not have the bass yet, so I am not sure of the year. it has Barts and I believe the Aguilar OBP-3.

Someone above me posted the Denver Cl link, that is the bass I mentioned. The seller is a good guy, but he is crazy busy ATM. He sent me some additional pics as well.

I love dragonburst, I believe that is the official name of the blue-green burst.

That is the one! A very rare Modulus right there!

Speaking of RARE Moduli, DeathDancer's green SS Turbo used to be mine in a former life. I only sold because I received a brand new Q6 some years ago. It is ultra-rare with a GREEN TINTED neck! Gotta love it!

Indeed. I should get some better pics of it taken! Strange I keep winding up with green gear when I was never fond of the color! All sounds too good to part with though!

Interesting you say that. I have a bluish purplish TBX 6 which has colored graphite and there's no way I would have chosen it, but there it is. I've always wanted walnut or cocobolo.

Yeah, definitely. As cool as the tinted graphite neck is I actually would prefer the standard black/gray (or maybe red... hmm..) I always wanted a blackstone modulus but forest green with tinted neck it is. Least it goes with my Trace Elliot I suppose!

I believe Turbo refers to the pickup positions, which as you can see, are closer to the bridge than usual.

Turbo is one pickup in the so-called Musicman Stingray Sweet Spot position and an additional pickup between it and the bridge. Super punchy...

Just to clarify, the Modulus Quantum Sweet Spot model is the single pickup bass in the Stingray position. The Turbo refers to the added pickup option between the existing pickup and the bridge. As I understand it, DeathDancer's model is the "Quantum 5 Sweet Spot Turbo Custom". Quite a mouthful.

And, yes, lotsa punch and some extra mid range quack as compared to the normal Quantum 5.

Green is my favorite color but I also really like orange. The Quantum 6 that replaced it was amber burst like the Q5 that is on its way.

That bass though: green and black, I love the look!

I have a recent version of the tinted neck. I always liked it when I was younger, so when I decided to order a new one (after having a blackstone Q5 forever), I ordered the blue tinted neck. Apparently it was the first one they've done in a couple years, then they did a bunch of TBX tints in the same batch.
