I had forgotten about the phase cancelling. So I guess there are two factors which control the tone in this case: both pickups’ relative location to the bridge for brightness/nasal/which harmonics they hear, and their relative location to each other for phase cancelling. So much plays into building and designing these things.

I think both of these factors are true. Interesting theory about the P pickup. It does get pretty close, gotta say.

I did the opposite with my MBC-5 -as in, had it converted to a lined fretless.

While Moon is mostly known for its Jazz style basses, these more "modern" (for lack of a better word) style instruments are quite phenomenal (and a bit underrated -at least relatively speaking) IMHO.

Haha I based my bass purchases off of my two favorite bassists, Sakurai and Sutoh! I already have the BB2000 and it’s set up to sound just like Mint Jams (lots of P pickup, less J), and my custom Moon coming in later this year is based on the Sutoh Signature JJ5! Just 5 months to go…

The guitar is incredible, the nitro is thin skin like a Vanzandt. The neck feels like heaven compared to the nitro coating over hard poly on the bass. Color is Mercedes Blue so it doesn’t match the bass haha.

This is how the color is supposed to look like in real life, very sensitive to lighting, it’s a beautiful color. I might put it for sale in the coming month, I haven’t get the chance to play it much it’s just been a case queen.
