Foo Fighters are a damn good rock band. I'd bet a good sum of money they are a more powerful, tighter, more focused, better live band than whoever you are playing with right now. Good songs too, if you like that kind of thing.
They would be a damn good rock band if they were playing to 100 people a night on the club circuit. In fact, if they were playing to 100 people a night on the club circuit I'd probably go see them every time they came around.
Winning a Grammy is an interesting curiosity, I guess, if you find the machinations of the industry 'interesting'. But one has nothing to do with the other.
well, they ought to be, they are an (inter)national signed act. do they inspire me? nope. to me its very saccharine. would i pay for a ticket? nope. will my band ever cover their music, no. id rather play something with a groove and some soul. i play for me, not you or dave grohl. i listen to music for me, not you or dave grohl. id rather hear something interesting on the very edge of control, than some pedestrian power pop executed in a safe and tight manner.



That kind of music sells because wait for it...the majority of people want to hear it!
