Most annoying instrument (to your ears)?

Hate bagpipes?! WTH? Am I the only Scots-Irish descendant here? Lol. A good bagpipe player can give me goosebumps. It is definitely an instrument that cant be practiced quietly - not only do you know that you messed up, but your neighbors 2 miles down the road know as well.

The guitar used in Bachatta music. It's a loudly amplified acoustic with chorus. They found a way to mount a humbucker to an acoustic guitar and that's what happened.

Overly used slap bass, to be honest.

Oh yeah. I think what bugs me about overly used slap is that, in my experience, it seems the person doing it is saying, "look at me and how good I think I am." I liken these players to "that guy" in Guitar Center playing Stairway To Heaven for his girlfriend who is looking around and acting disinterested because music is not her thing and is just along for the ride to make sure her boyfriend does not spend the rent.

I am not marginalizing slap because I really like it when it has a place.

The definition of a gentleman is someone who can play the bagpipes, but doesn't.

For me it has to be 80's hair bands using "wasp in a jar" guitar sounds. I like distorted/overdriven guitar, but some of those guys went too far.

There was a guy who used to come to open-mics where I lived who would play the 'pipes. He was ok, but an "ok" bagpipe player really isn't that discernible from a bad one, and I'm pretty sure he was a sadist that just liked torturing people.

Pipes are like any instrument - a lousy player sounds lousy. I played for 20 years and achieved the accolade of "adequate" from a discerning ear.
