Captain Beyond

The original line-up for Captain Beyond was singer Rod Evans (ex-Deep Purple), drummer Bobby Caldwell (ex-Johnny Winter), guitarist Larry "Rhino" Reinhardt (ex-Iron Butterfly), and bassist Lee Dorman (ex-Iron Butterfly). The band had a few lineup changes afterward.

I must add Blind Melon to my list. Lyrically and musically just killer IMO. Hoon's death was such a loss. I had envisioned him getting older and following in Neil Young's footsteps. Shame.

I completely agree, STP, great band, musicians, and songs. Robert DeLeo, great bass player, he's got great sense of groove, feel, tone...

There's always a lotta chatter about established musical artists being overrated... but who, in your opinion, is established yet UNDERRATED?

My votes go to Simple Minds, The Afghan Whigs and Stereophonics. I recognize Stereophonics are bigger in Europe... but unfortunately, they're not a big blip on the radar with most folks in the U.S.

Who's on your underrated list?

Love the Stereophonics. I've seen them at the 9:30 in DC the last 2 times they came to the States. Great band, and definitely underappreciated in the US.
