Music Man Custom Design Experience coming!

I mentioned this on the SRS thread, but everyone triple check your costing before checkout.. noticed some really wierd stuff where things that at least IMO (like natural finish with clear being the most expensive finish) being potentially mispriced. I also spun it up multiple times and it seems sometimes the order that you select the options changes the price.

If you pick for example flamed maple neck it goes up by 300, But if you pick a fingerboard then go back and chang it to flame maple it actually doesn't change the price or lowers it.. theres alot of really quirky interactoins like this, that seemingly if you choose things out of "order" or certain combinatoins it seems to do the math wrong or ignores the feature. I had the same thing happen for selecting SLO neck after picking other options where it was no upcharge... every other time it was 100 more, and same with inlays, with Blocks showing as cheapest, and no inlays being the most expensive which im pretty sure is backwards.

This is the best screenshot I could get from the youtube vid - Note: please don't make your purchasing decisions from my washed out, out of focus screen grab ;)

I don't know why I care since I'm not in the market for a new StingRay, but the colour options do seem rather 'niche', especially given some of the stunning production colours available in the distant. How about some retro colours such as Trans Gold, Dargie Delight or some flavour of White or Buttercream? Also seems a little odd that nothing from the current 'off-the-shelf' range like Hot Honey or Candy Man is available through the Custom Design Experience.

...
gaudiest possible instrument I can muster.
...

Gaudy is pretty easy with the options available:

Getting something a more understated without being 'generic' not so easy. At least something like my very traditional '91 can be cobbled together:

Something to note is that there are no backpack type straps on the EBMM mono gig bags, if that matters to you. I've personally gotten used to having that option with a gig bag so the fact that the EBMM monos don't have them is a significant deterrent for me. If there are no backpack straps on the gig bag I might as well just use a HSC.
I actually sold my MM Mono case for that very reason to another well-known member on our particular page here and bought a ProTec Contega soft case for my new Stingray Special last summer.

I’ve had great luck with the ProTec cases (with backstrap provisions). So it was an easy decision.

I think some wrong assumptions are being made . But I could be wrong.
It is my understanding that you can order any of the design experience options on those available non current finishes and on the current finishes. But I could be wrong .
Email EBMM just to be sure. You don’t know until you ask, if you are interested .

See, I was hoping the opposite... Lava Pearl was too red for me. I'd love just plain orange, though.

I saw MxPx on Friday and Mike Herrara has a new StingRay (he still gets them to make the old version with a three band knob setup, although he just has them wired straight with no preamp). It's "creamsicle orange" and I just wish I could morph my Laguna Green SR Special into that color scheme. The best still I could find:

Has anyone who has ordered received their bass yet? I just built the Stingray 5 of my dreams yesterday and the fact that I’m going to have a long wait is setting in, lol. I know they quoted 4-6 months, but I’m curious to see if that’s accurate and I can’t find anyone saying they've gotten one yet.

Nice!!! How are you liking it!?

I’m most concerned about weight, as there’s no way to ensure that it ends up being on the lighter side. I had an old Stingray 5 that was a boat anchor, but at the time I was young enough to deal with it
I'm not sure EBMM is making boat anchors anymore. The weight of today's Specials can vary, but I've never played or even heard about any that rivaled the StingRays of old.

I hate that (it's not mine)! Man that is sweet Tom!

Played it at practice tonight, and while it is obviously the honeymoon, still, I was amazed by the range of tones available just by dialing in the selector switch. This is my first time with an HH model, and boy, howdy, I love it! :bassist::bassist::bassist::thumbsup:
