nice, i dont remember which dr's ive had on there, but ive tryed one of them. on my gunmetal sr, it made it TOO bright. dont get me wrong, i love bright and clear, but this was like a tingy tangy bright. i couldnt get my bass sounding its normal self through my rig. i wasnt a fan.
i dont know if its just me, but ANY time i restring my eb, its tingy tangy for the first few hours of play time, doesnt matter WHAT the string type is. is that normal? its never happened with any of my other basses. but yea, maybe ill try the sunbeams if you recommend them....

I don't think your my space music player is working.

I checked it myself just after posting and there indeed was a temporary issue.

Sten, thanks for the link. Pretty cool stuff!:bassist: Thank you for the link. Were you using a pick or playing with just fingers?

Thanks. I always use the pick in this band. I love that how these things (SR5, Bassdriver, DR strings, pick) contruct a great sound :)

From the Ernie Ball F.A.Q.:

Average battery life is 6 months. We recommend Duracell batteries as replacements mostly due to size inconsistencies between battery manufacturers. Do not leave your bass plugged in when you have finished playing, as this will drain your battery faster. Battery life of course depends on how often and how long you play. When the sound of your bass becomes distorted, it's ready for a new battery.

Hard to believe that there is an appreciable size difference between major battery manufactures. Even harder to believe that, new-for-new and type-for-type, there is an appreciable tone difference between batteries (above post). More believable is that EB factory stocks all their basses with Duracells and promotes that partnership in their literature.

No, I believe them. I tried sticking a no-name battery in my Ray and it wouldn't fit in the holder. I think the 'partnership' theory is a stretch. Even though EB is a big company in the instrument industry, they're still probably too small to be any kind of partner to Duracell. How many active-electronic instruments does EB produce a year?

I had to dig out all my old stuff that I haven't used in years to fund this. But I just couldn't let this bass pass.

It's a '97 trans teal with absolutely crazy birdseye on the neck/fingerboard, extremely clean and seems like a real decent weight. I'm in the process of dealing with a neck relief issue but that seems to be coming along just fine.

Incidently does anyone know what the string to pickup dimension should be?

Beautiful bass Jerry!

From the Music Man [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

The pickup should be 4/32" to 5/32" on the bass side and slightly closer (4/32" to 5/32" on the treble side. This is determined by tuning and volume of strings measured by the top of the pole piece to the bottom of the strings. If the G string needs more volume, adjust it slightly more toward the pickup. Again, if you tune down, more distance is needed here, as well; but in any case, no lower than 4/32.
