Beautiful bass Jerry!

From the Music Man [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

The pickup should be 4/32" to 5/32" on the bass side and slightly closer (4/32" to 5/32" on the treble side. This is determined by tuning and volume of strings measured by the top of the pole piece to the bottom of the strings. If the G string needs more volume, adjust it slightly more toward the pickup. Again, if you tune down, more distance is needed here, as well; but in any case, no lower than 4/32.

CElton, thank you for the pickup spec and the link.

I have been working on the setup for this bass. The strings were a mile high and the neck had way too much relief. But I think that I might have it setup now with a very flat neck and fairly low action. This bass was sweet to set up other than trying to get the neck to move. Lots of patience paid off.

Hi guys, would you help me please? I need a pickguard for a bass that was modelled after a '76 Stingray. I need to know if any SR guards will fit. The most important thing is the measurement from the end of the neck to the edge of the pickup. Can I get some of you guys to measure from the butt end between the A and D string to the edge of the pickup (side nearest the neck). Mine measures a little over 4.5". Please let me know the year of your bass, if the measurement is close to mine, so I can order the right guard. Thanks a bunch!!!

A lot of the Rays have that teardrop-shaped pickguard instead of the oval one that I have. Is that a different model of StingRay or was that the design of all Rays at one time?

This thread is amazing, but you guys are killing me! I'm filling my bass pr0n folder with nothing but 'Rays, but then again, how can I complain? :p

I almost got a StingRay as my first big time bass around two years ago, but ended up with a Fender J instead. I'm REALLY itching for a 'Ray now, but its a far off dream at the moment.

May I ask though, if anyone has an image of a StringRay with 3-Tone Sunburst and Tort pickguard, could you send that my way?

Can I get a #? I just got my Stingray today and I must say, its probably the highest quality bass for the price...

I didn't have to do anything, its perfect from the box.

The day this bass is stolen or gets damaged is the first day I will cry over a bass...
