For Sale:
Axe that was used by George Washington to chop down a cherry tree. Head has been replaced twice and handle has been replaced three times, otherwise all original and in mint condition.
You can call the P Bass whatever you want but it certainly is NOT authentic or original and therefore it's a mutt. If I have a 1965 Fender Jazz bass that has a warped neck and I replace that neck with a nice new Fender one it's no longer just a 1965 Fender Jazz bass, it's now a 1965 Fender Jazz with a new neck. It's called full disclosure and something that honest people do out of habit.

Parts are indeed parts. The Fender parts you buy from Fender are the same as the ones Fender uses on their basses(excluding custom shop) Fender doesn't build basses, they build parts and assemble them from various parts bins(excluding custom shop)
But when they build them, they warranty both parts and construction. Their basses are built by professionals, where a parts bass is built by ????
This thread is only lacking two things: Discussion about parts with different speaker sizes and which parts are best for metal. As soon as we have those all will be well.

I see where you are going, but once the parts are built, its a matter of assembly. The American Jazz i bought was slapped together. short of soldering the wires, anyone can bolt together a bass to the standard mine came in. Theres no real construction to warranty if the parts themselves carry a warranty. It was a great bass once it received some attention. But a complex beast they are not.
This is, of course, completely untrue. Construction issues, like wiring, are often the cause of warranty claims.
I get it....you don't like Fender. I only own one, and have no plans of owning another, fwiw. But none of that changes the fact that a parts bass is a parts bass, and not a real "Fender" as thought of by the general. Using public.

Just for the record, parts bass and frankenfender aren't real companies. They're just names the community has made up. Fender is an actual company. It is also the company that made all the parts of the bass.

Okay, but when someone asks me, they usually have no clue what a Warmoth is. It's easier to say Fender because most people know what a Fender is. If you're taking people to task for that, you have too much time on your hands. I can call my bass a purple people eater if I want to, and it won't make a lick of difference, UNTIL I TRY TO SELL IT.

It's a P-bass made from parts, simple as that. "My friend's an idiot" - I'm proud to be part of the grammar/punctuation "police" (my parent's were Holocaust survivors out of Auschwitz so I don't use Nazi). Poor education, too bad, especially those who condone it.
