My quest to become as emo as possible.

Any mention of emo, and get embrace songs running through my head. i just realized how perfectly some of these song titles fit the 'emo' stereotype....so.....

you also have to write songs like:

I Wouldn't Wanna Happen to You
My Weakness is None of Your Business
Now You're Nobody

or some other self-deprecating stuff. remember, you hate yourself.

Take picture liks this while listening to Bright Eyes and post them in your Livejournal.

Peace
Nick

EDIT: Take pictures of that type, but dont copy what you see. Note that my hair is wrong, Im not wearing the glasses, Smashing Pumpkins T-shirts arent emo, I was listening to White Zombie, that isnt a nautical star tattoo, beards usually arent emo, and those are digital pictures- not pictures taken with an antique camera bought at Salvation Army when shopping for clothes that are too small. Also note the flag in the background is of some drummer frat or something that belongs to my room mate. Emo kids dont let frat things show up in their pictures because they get beat up by frat guys.

*OH GOD NO* :crying: :crying: :crying:

here... what about if i write some poetry too?

ehrm...

"the entrance to my heart is like a derelict moor land path,
seldom travelled and covered in sheep poo"

oh yeah, putting my english major to good use here.
NO! It should be:

the entrance to my heart is a derelict moor land path,
seldom travelled and covered in sheep poo

No "like". Metaphors are more emo than similes. And make sure you write it in your LiveJournal in a really tiny font.

Also, while people are on the right track about how to be an emo bass player, it's much easier to be emo as a singer than as a bassist. Don't play another instrument, just grab the mic with both hands (on or off the stand, it works either way), sing or scream with a supremely agonized expression on your face, and shudder your shoulders in a convulsive manner. You'll be so emo that other emo kids will soon be putting your lyrics in THEIR LiveJournals :D

And when you're playing your Fender P make sure your guitar strap is so low you can barely reach it. That's the new trend today kiddies.

I 've used Kepur straps and they're up to 6 feet long. Plus they're vegan straps. Works out the whole Emo thing. Even if you don't use them. Hell I'd love to endorse them, best I've ever used.

Most of you have horrible conceptions on what emo is and its pretty sad that you're all making fun of something that obviously most of you don't understand. Guess what, if its on mtv, its not real emo! I am by no means emo, but I do own my fair share of emo albums.

Download a few songs and be less ignorant about the genre

Bright Eyes - "Something Vague" (depressing)
Onelinedrawing - "We Had A Deal" (kind of sad yet happy song)
Rites Of Spring - "For Want Of" (bitter)
Hot Water Music - "Trademark" (rocker)
Braid - "The Chandelier Swing" (depressing)
Sunny Day Real Estate - "Song About An Angel"
Mineral - "Parking Lot"
From Autumn To Ashes - "The after dinner payback" (don't want to be caught in the pit during this song)

I tried varying the list as much as possible (some emo is polar opposites of others)
