Jimmy, interesting to see that you use the VTD with your B15 - sort of Ampeg on Ampeg. Cool pedal that brings some nice qualities/features to live tone. I use mine all the time, including through my 6Pro.

Peppermill Casino - 2013 - backline provided what I requested (SWR Goliath III and SVT-4)

Everything was there when I plugged in. I turned the amp on. Played through it. After about 5 seconds, the volume dropped for some reason. About a second later, there was a pop and it released its smoke (everything runs on smoke). I flipped the switch and unplugged my bass, then yanked the power cord.

Whichever tech at the venue had accidentally plugged the speaker cable into the bridge outlet. OOPS.

They had another, and all was well.

Don't you hate when the rental rig sets on fire? ;)

PF, the VTD is something I quit using for a while but brought back last summer. I use it as a speaker sim for clean sounds and as a dirt pedal. Some folks think it's redundant but I really don't care for hearing tweeter freqs in the PA except now and then so it's not.

Ooh! I just remembered one!
In the early 80s, I was playing upright at an outdoor music festival, in a folk/bluegrass trio, and there was one of the old Kustom tuck-and-roll amps with a 2x15 (silver). The sound was awesome...until the flames and smoke started half-way through the first set. There was no backup...

Ha that's my first amp, I still rock it today! It'll shock the poopie out of you when you sing:woot:

Gotta love it. I was supplied a Kustom 100 watt head and a 2-12 cab, tuck and roll heaven. Fender Twin at one gig a Randall 80 watt 1-12 guitar combo that I torched. After the last song it was making this high, whining tone and nothing more.

Now look, I like Hartke amps and Larry is an awesome friend, but even though I'll be the last person to call myself a bigshot, at least make it a 3500 and a 410!

I'm usually not (un)lucky enough to play gigs where I don't have to bring my rig.

At a recent gig however, I was asked by the sound man if I could plug straight into his 18" behringer sub woofer instead of my Bergantino/ Aguilar rig so he could have "more control and a better bottom end". I was lost for words. (I didn't take him up on that btw)

Of course, the sidefills were a lot more to write home about. About 3 songs in, the monitor guy kicked in the subs (something he wasn't supposed to do for the opening acts, but did for me as a favor for snagging him some pizza and sodas from the green room).

In my experience, his sound ideal for bass is shared by quite a few sound men.

This has been the best thread I have read in a long time. I am not nor will I ever be even close to being a gigging bassist. As such it has really been fun to read about what that life is like. That said, I'm compelled (ha ha ha) to add my own . The venue is my den. The audience, Esau

I can assure you they are a tough crowd, but after my stunning accompaniment to "Ten Years Gone" all paws were raised in salute. Fortunately, my den received the new Ampeg v2 BA210.
