My USPS Shipment hasn't moved since Jan. 4th

Interestingly enough, I’ve had my share of screwups with FedEx Ground lately. They might not be experiencing the same delays but they are not as reliable as UPS. At least that’s been my personal experience and I ship about 1800 -2000 packages a year between the three carriers.

I’ve had several USPS deliveries since the first of the year arrive without issue. It’s just this one shipment from the Midwest.

I agree with you wholeheartedly about the value of the USPS. Considering what they are dealing with right now, I would never blame any of the employees. I’m also right there with you regarding Amazon. I broke a long standing rule of refusing to buy from Amazon when I bought 2 sets of TI Hazz Flats for less than $40 each a little over a year ago. Otherwise, I’d go without rather than spend my money with them.

i had a package ship on dec. 7th that diddn't arrive until early jan - the 2nd or 3rd, i forget. never showed any tracking updates ("pre-shipment") until it was actually delivered.

I had a deal fall through for something i was selling on another forum, because the buyer's wife ships products regularly for her business and has had such a rough time with anyone getting their packages, it scared this guy away from a sale. (he seemed like a 100% serious buyer until then)

it's a mess right now... i'd wait a full month before assuming it's lost.

My neck, which was ordered on December 10, got stuck in NY USPS hub, then incorrectly sent to New Jersey, then back to New York Metro---stuck again, no tracking data for like 2 weeks. Then it finally left NY and was delivered 2 days later.... about 3.5 weeks total.

I have motorcycle parts with an expected delivery of Jan 2 siting in Ohio with a "delivery time later than expected" update. Normally USPS sends my stuff between 3 local cities for a week before getting it to my house.

Fed-Ex has a tendency to send my stuff to L.A. instead of LA.

I'm in the SF Bay Area. Had a recent package coming from Ill. sit in Sparks, NV. for two weeks then sent to Modesto for a week, then back to Sparks for three days before being sent to Oakland and then delivered that day. Don't know what's going on, probably delays due to Covid. I hear it worse, much worse, for sending or receiving anything from overseas. Hang in there.

Bought a bass here on TB in October. Still no bass (I did get a refund by the buyer). It's still showing "in-transit" and has been since November 5th. The USPS has been incredibly unhelpful every time I have called, emailed or shown up at the distribution hub to ask for assistance. My last contact with the buyer was before Xmas. They owe him $1600 (it was insured), but have yet to pay up.
I'm also waiting on a pedal I purchased December 15th, shipped the next day. Still "in transit" according to their tracking.
My last trip to the distribution hub was unreal. They have pallets with packages circling the building. The trucks drop them off and they sit for weeks before they are even brought inside to sort. Inside the warehouse (what I could see from the window) were packages stacked up to the ceiling. They could barely walk around back there.

I ordered a CD through discogs from a seller in Germany. Tracking says processed through Frankfurt facility on December 2. Putting the tracking into usps, it says: "Origin post is preparing shipment - we have received notice that the originating post is preparing to dispatch this mail piece", and that's it. The seller contacted their carrier and I contacted usps. Who knows if it'll turn up.

Many USPS hubs are just holding parcels for 3 weeks ... cuz of the thing that is going on. I don't know whether there is a central policy on that (of course, there isn't, cuz of the other thing that is going on), but some of them are definitely doing that.

International is significantly different. Postal services do not have their own fleet of aircraft, so they rely on getting space on commercial flights. The frequency of those is severely curtailed now. This summer International postage was going by boat. I shipped two packages in March, one to Vietnam, one to The Netherlands, Priority Mail Express International. Customer in The Netherlands got the package in August, Vietnam customs got that one in July.

I also ordeted a couple items from the vendor who satisfies a musician's sweet tooth. On the same date as you (1/4). It was several days before I saw an update on my order. Yesterday, I finally received an update through tracking. It left the Indianapolis hub today. Hoping to get it tomorrow. I'm in Ohio. Funny thing is, that vendor is only an hour and 10 minutes from my home. And the order went 2 hours south (Cincinnati) of the vendor's location (oppoaite direction of where I live). Just screwy!

I skipped 2 pages to add another one.

Aftershokz headset, "Christmas present" for the wife off of eBay. Ordered 12/12. In the mail, left Syracuse on 12/14. . . . . Arrived 1/6. Status updated to delivered two days later. "Trust us, if we can handle the holidays we can handle anything." But my fault, I should have spent the extra three bucks, it was kinda important.
