NCAA Football - 2011

Whoa, John Cooper. I forgot all about him.

But really, what NCAA football program doesn't have players selling items to make money?

-Mike

Lol...that's another can of worms. As far as I'm concerned, NCAA athletes should be allowed to profit from their "likeness".

The issue here is Tressel tried to cover it up and was not honest about it with the NCAA. He knew it was wrong and so did the AD and President. That's why they self imposed punishment. Which in my opinion is a bit condesending and short sided. Not to mention, a little(really a lot) too late.

It hurts as a fan, but I think it's time to take the medicine that we all think is coming and move on.

Misdemeanors in 2009 for fighting and resisting arrest with out violence. Police told him to stop fighting, he threw another punch, and got tasered for it.

Invalid Link Removed. The Urban Meyer days are officially over in Gainesville. The article says it was a mutual decision to part ways, and I believe that. A four or five game suspension would have been fitting if you ask me.

HUGE loss on the field, but I think we'll be fine.

I just caught this. Dismissing the Gators' best player is certainly going to send a message. Hurts on the field, absolutely, but the team should ultimately be better off from a disciplinary/motivational standpoint. This is a transition year, anyway.

I think Muschamp had to do this for a lot of reasons, none the least of which is the fact that his presence and activity at Florida thus far has been about as ho-hum as possible. Having a good season this year will make up for it all, but there's been nothing coming out of Gainesville to really create excitement thus far.

Yeah, no excitement for you, but excitement for us fans. I prefer he keeps it low profile and goes about getting his program in place and everyone lined up. Boring or ho-hum is alright by me to describe what's going on in Gainesville right now.

Come September, time to release the hounds and win nine or ten games in this transition year. :D

-Mike

Yeah, it doesn't mean anything of course. Chizik's first offseason was about as ho-hum as it comes. Results are all that matters. I understand I'm not a Gator, but I'm surprised to hear you say it's exciting for the fans. I really haven't gotten that impression, but I don't live in Florida anymore. To me, it almost feels like another Zook so far.

Not excitement like sitting on the edge of my seat everyday waiting for the next story to come out. Excitement as in a new coach with tremendous energy, some changes to the schemes, no more Addazio, and some good news on the recruiting front.

No more Addazio! I forgot about that. Now that is exciting! Seriously. LOL!

LOL, generating excitement by kicking the best player off the team? I don't think that was part of the strategy.:D

Concur on this, but not coming off as a spineless non-disciplinarian might have been part of it. :p

:D

Jesting aside, Jenkins has to feel like an idiot. He would have easily been a first round pick next year if his level of play had continued. He'll still be in the NFL but his payday will be greatly reduced for a while. Personally, as a libertarian, arresting someone over something as meaningless as this is ridiculous, but since it is illegal I just have to wonder why he'd be sitting downtown in a car where police are sure to roam. I guess I should quit being surprised at this kind of thing though.

But hey, it's off season so this stuff happens. I expect someone in Tuscaloosa will do something really stupid any day now.

Agreed. He probably would been a first-round pick this year, too. Huge mistake. It's almost like he was testing Muschamp.

They already have. What is Mark Barron up to these days?

-Mike
:D I suppose lying to police is pretty stupid, though he really didn't do anything other than that. Wait, he was pulled over for aggrivated speeding or wreckless driving I think also. Both of those are pretty stupid.

I'm waiting for something REALLY dumb though, like a convenient store robbery, or another female slap down. :D

There are so many reasons I would want to post this picture and share it with you guys. Wow.
