NCAA Week 14

I wouldn't give Snead or McCluster a whole lot of credit--their performances were fairly unremarkable other than Snead connecting on one bomb. Here's the box score:

It was UF's three fumbles (two deep in the Gators' own territory) and the blocked extra point that primarily caused that loss.
Perhaps, but on the other hand you know what they say...you never fumble against the scout team. Ole Miss brought the pressure during that game and created issues. I'm not calling it that Bama will do that and win the game. I'm just fighting this notion that St. Tebow is unbeatable because of his will to win. I don't get that from anyone in this thread, but some of the Gator fans I talk to around here have bought into it 100%.

I'm just excited to get this game going! I bought a HD TV this past weekend, which I've been eyeballing anyway, but the SECCG was enough to push me over the edge so that I could watch it in style.

Eublet, 1080P will have you wondering why you waited so long! Hook up some surround sound and it really brings home viewing of college ball to the next level.
Oh yeah! I've had the surround sound for a while, but I have an old 35" Trinitron TV that just refuses to die. Whenever I watch ball at 1080p with friends, it's just killer. I wanted to do this at the start of the season, but I hate spending money.

.....you guys are still going on about how Harvin wasn't in the game.

It bears repeating since there have been comments made in these threads this year how the Gators are less explosive than last year. Well, maybe we are, but we still beat you last season without our most lethal offensive weapon on the field.

Just sayin.... :D

Well, you guys were more explosive last year without Harvin than you are this year without him. Either way, I don't think there is much comparison between the two years for either team. Play calling is drastically different for both squads. The cool thing about this game is that both teams are likely to pull a lot of new things out of the hat that they haven't used all year. It'll be fun to see what works and what doesn't.

Just wait to see how well NU fans travel. My guess is that it will be about 50/50.

Yes, that's touchdown Jesus in the back.

What a great pic.

Yep, the Husker fan travels very well. It's not that far anyway.

I get that. I should give Ole Miss' defensive line some credit--but they didn't prevent Tebow from racking up over 300 passing yards. And I'm just saying the analogy doesn't work so well with the wills of those certain players.

FWIW, I don't buy that Tebow is unbeatable. But he has grown a lot as a leader and clutch player since early last year. I remember some stat about Tebow either not leading fourth-quarter comebacks or playing well in the fourth quarter of tight games being bandied about on TV as late as November of last year. He obviously put that stuff to rest against Bama and OU.

Congrats on the HDTV, enjoy it. You won't believe how much better it is when watching games.

yeah, the report is that dunlap will be missing the game. i hope that urban and the coaching staff really lays into him--it hurts the d-line tremendously, and, more importantly, from how wasted he reportedly was, people could've gotten hurt.
I couldn't agree more, I'm furious. Urban has suspended him indefinitely.

Agreed. If you are out drunk at the wee hours of the morning in the middle of the week before the most important game of the year, you clearly don't deserve a spot on the team.

It's finals time - some of us are known to do some extra drinking around then. :hiding:

I'm not defending his decision to drive at all, don't get me wrong. But do you think college kids don't drink during the middle of the week sometimes? :eyebrow: :D

At 3 in the morning in the middle of the week? I can't say that's normal even for college kids, especially for someone on the #1 football team. And to be out driving...man. I'm sure this kid knows he screwed up and wishes he could take it all back. I did a lot of drinking and driving when I was young, too. Stupid, stupid, stupid. I'm just thankful I never hurt anyone or got arrested, though I was pulled over and left off the hook a couple of times. Of course, I wasn't asleep at a green light either.

I actually feel for this kid, unlike the UT guys who robbed a store. The pressure can be hard to deal with, and he probably wasn't planning on drinking all night when he started, but it just kept on going. I hate it for him, and for the team. Suspension is definitely the right thing to do, especially since Florida's arrest rate is sky high under Meyer. They have to set an example here. It's just too bad that it came at the absolute worst time of the year.
